Forums - Gaming - CBOAT strikes again: Says not to expect 1080p in Xbox One

waste of time.
those that are biased towards xbox arent going to believe it and call it sony pr crap
those that are biased against xbox are going to believe it and laugh

same thing happens when its negative against sony, only with companies swapped.

if you really think some of the usual faces here are going to say anything other than what they have already said, youre mistaken.

Its like expecting kow to say anything positive about sony, at all.

why do you mention especially him? dat bias! :D No, really, this was unneeded. What's even more bothering is that some people are really redundant. If some leave this site, another one will come and behave *exactly* as the one left. Seems many build their posts upon N4G and GAF with the exact same ammunition of "arguments".

this guys last outing, wasn't he pretty much wrong about everything?

He is a trustworthy source regardless of what console you own. Does he get things wrong from time to time... yeah

However his record is pretty good, right way more often then wrong.

Could he be wrong about this, yeap.

Neither PS4 nor Xbox One will have a native 1080p baseline.
We went through the same thing back in 2006 with the PS3; in the end, many developers will choose to sacrifice resolution for better effects, materials, textures, etc.
This is why many 360/PS3 games weren't even 720p native. In fact, many high profile games like COD, Crysis 2, Halo 3, Splinter Cell Conviction, Alan Wake, and the PS3 versions of GTA4 and Bioshock weren't.
Many gamers won't even notice the difference between 720p and 1080p, much less 900p and 1080p. So devs will spend the power on things they will notice instead, or just not spend the extra time and money to optimize for 1080p.

These next gen consoles clearly have way more bandwidth and pixel output at their disposal compared to the PS360U so there is no excuse for why they can't have 1080p and that especially goes for the PS4.

On PS4, only one game is confirmed sub 1080, it is Battlefield 4 (the order is  a special case). All first party games are confirmed 1080p (or 1080p IQ for the  order) and all multiplat (so far) are rumored (by developers tweets etc) 1080p.

Even on XOnes some games are confirmed 1080p (Forza and COD) and I don't doubt that others will follow as probably a lot of indie games will be 1080p.

So I think your "Neither" is a lot preposterous.

whats 1080 IQ?

1080p Image Quality.

 could explain the difference?

LOL. He had the X1 for a YEAR!

I just read that he had a retail Xbone before MS even start the production lol

He never said it's retail one

Then how can he use a year old console to disprove CBOAT about the problems from overclocking retail consoles?

Because he can keep get the update version of the console?

Yes, and here we go. I don't care about any dev-talk or this crap. Oh, game is 1080p? Fine. It has no AA? Fuck off. Really, 1080p has nothing to do with good IQ, in my opinion. What 1080p IQ will mean we have to see but I doubt it's native 1080p. Furthermore it is currently only an argument in fanboy wars, nothing more, nothing less. And also remember how GT5 was 1080p and not full-hd which some people here seem to confuse.

I'd be hard pressed to find any console gamer that cares about what resolution a games runs at. You want better graphics and higher resolution but you want the machine to be cheap? You can't have your cake and eat it to.

Console peasants! :P I could save so much money if 720p didn't matter for PC games ;-; sadly the high pixel/inch ratio on PC monitors makes 720p look like a cat has pissed all over your screen ¬______¬

Seriously though, games not being 1080p will be damaging in the long run. More and more people are getting bigger TVs and past 40 inches the difference between 1080p and 720p becomes pretty noticeable (i tried it out this morning after a discussion about it with someone the other day).

Many many people already have big TVs and have fun with the current generation.

As with any claim, I'll simply take the position of the skeptic and wait for sufficient evidence.

Cboat aka mister "pretty much always wrong". Aka Neogaf spokesboy (appropriately,. I suppose, given that forum).

At this point he doesn't even say anything specific anymore, just a bunch of random bile anybody could make up spewed at Microsoft.

I particularly enjoy how upclocks (the opposite of all CBOATS lies about the horrible yields etc) are in there. Like, in some sort of implied negative fashion.

Being faster, clearly a sign of disarray.

He's basically just a paid Sony FUD-bot like all of Neogaf at this point.

Yeah, cboat was wrong so many times. He's just right like 99 % of the time, so he's not to be taken seriously AT ALL. Trust misterxmedia instead, that man knows what he's talking about. Like, dGPU, 12 GB RAM, TEH CLOUD, Optimiziation, all that good stuff. He is so friggin's right all the time!

:P

Heh, misterxmedia is crazy,  never said otherwise...

CBOAT isn't 99% right, his recent track record is pretty awful. Like, 0% AFAIK. Most famously he guarenteed an October release of PS4...

A lot of his so called predictions are just unprovable anti-Xbox fud-nonsense anyway (example from one of his recent tirades IIRC: New Xbox One driver drops performance 20%, with no proof ever given, and of course never will be because it's unprovable, or, "terrible yields", another unprovable fudd-y accusation later debunked by an upclock). His specific predictions are even more prone to being wrong since they're actually disprovable.

He's been right on about 99% stuff related to Microsoft, his Sony record is worse, he even said so himself. Given that this is Microsoft related news, theres a very very high chance he's right

how did you calculate 99%?
