Forums - Gaming - DualShock 4 vs XBone Controller Review

I never understood Xbox gamers who praised the 360 controller as the best, are now claiming the One controller is perfect. From the reviews I've read/watched, they have made some things worse. At least it would be worse if Xbox guys actually believe in the things they praised the 360 controller for.

It has been designed slightly smaller for smaller hands, something Xbox gamers complained about the DS3. MS themselves have said the analogs now require 25% less force to move them, so they probably feel more like the DS3 analog sticks in the regard. Again, something Xbox gamers didn't like about the DS3. It also seems they have put the bumpers and triggers against each other, so it's harder to distinguish them from one another. I also keep hearing that the bumpers are a tad uncomfortable to hit.

It's kind of funny to hear them praise the new rumble triggers, while completely ignoring the vastly improved rumble in the DS4. Apparently, it has several different rumble motors inside, so they can simulate a dozen tiny robots in the controller or even make you think there is liquid in the controller. Something tells me they can focus those rumble motors to create a sensation similar to rumble triggers.

That’s what I’ve been saying about the new DS4 rumble tech. I even made a thread about it. But somehow attaching rumble to the triggers makes it innovative.

I saw that shitty video when he first made it. I knew you'd come up with that as it's the only one you could possibly use to try and sell your bs. It's a parody of youtube comments about the xbone right after e3 as he explains in the description.

here he defends mandatory kinect: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VsFUgnT6D4w&app=desktop

here he defends the xbone right after the reveal when everyone was shitting on it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ul2PD48hIfc&app=desktop

I've watched this guys videos for years and he's always been pro xbox.

I don't care what anybody likes or dislikes or thinks is better. I'm just commenting on this because your bullshit annoys me.

Wow, you really make this personal, but sweetie let me help you with your research.  He has lots of anti Microsoft Anti Xbox One rants:

PS4 E3 Keynote Breakdown - Kicking Xbox's TEETH IN!?  - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_xesLW0SJpg

XBOX ONE Rant - I don't wanna be a GAMER anymore! #Xboxreveal http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ul2PD48hIfc

XBOX ONE - XBONE NERD-RAGE! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwXatsuUiA8

And there is more, but my point is proven.  Blunty has had lots of Anti-Microsoft rants, regardless how you want to call me names.

Give him time, he likes to play both sides, but I'm sure after playing with those feedback triggers he will 're evaluate.'

So you're just randomly linking blunty videos now? Did you even watch them?

That first video is just his honest assessment of the ps4 e3 conference where, guess what, sony clowned microsoft pretty good. Your 2nd and 3rd links there are blunty in full on defense mode of microsoft. The comment you just responded to already had one of those links. lol

Let me remind you of your original comment in this thread:

"Wow, someone that spends the last several months campaigning against the Xbox One, Kinect and Microsoft like the PS one better. Colour me not surprised. "

Just admit that you lied and move on already.

I'm one of those guys that loved the 360 controller and I felt it was really much better than the PS3's. I'm partial to M$'s device but, as it stands, I haven't touched either of the next gen consoles. My opinion has to come from testimonials like this and it seems that Sony got it right. Good for them!

I expect the 2 pads to feel very similar/offer a pretty much equally good experience as both companies learned a trick or 2 from the other this gen. Everybody wins.

I went hands-on with both controllers at Gamescom. I highly preferred the 360 controller this gen but to my surprise (and everyone else's surprise) the Dual Shock 4 just felt better. They re-positioned the sticks to make the symmetrical layout feel more natural. I quite like it. It also feels like a bigger step forward in general.

PS4 controller (six axis, light bar, speaker, touch pad etc) and PS Vita's lots of options (rear touch, gyro control etc) reminds me of these type of wierd controllers which doesnt exist. They put whatever they could put in the controller. It seems sony designers were confused what to do.

Plus I like Xbox One using is using rechargeable battery. It is pain to use batteries but we can use battery packs. My 3 year old dualshock 3 went out of order because of battery. It is possible to change it but there are a lot of hassale associated with it.

Still I am going to get PS4 because of their games. But I wish Sony used just a normal controller instead of putting so many thins in the controller. Xbox One controller is probably the best controller of this gen.

LOL @ that controller, but while a jack of all trades controller can be awkward on PCs or home consoles, where you can use specialised controllers instead of the standard ones, if you want, I welcome PSV having plentiful control options, as in a portable you can't change the controller.

Yup. But I am very choosy about my controller. I perceive them without motion gimmick or other "unnecessary" options. I am a blind sony fan. But I appriciate xbox one's controller which looks awesome and perfect.

Am I the only one who doesnt like either of the new controllers?

I have not put my hands on either and will most likely change my mind when I do, but I cannot be the only one.

They could have kept the exact same designs and changed just a few things to make me happy (Xbox..I really hated the Analog Sticks. Not where they were but they just didnt feel right to me. Also that terrible Dpad. The PS3..Those were some terrible triggers and the Analog sticks needed a redesign like they got).

I haven't tried the new PS4 one yet, but I can tell you they changed the Dpad on the Xbox One, and the new sticks have a rubberized gripping edge.  They are also a tiny bit lighter to push, and have absolutely no play or jiggle to them.

Not sure if you will like it better though.  It is really familiar to the current one.

Will be curious when you get to try them out.  Which one(s) do you actually like?

Guess Im odd in my issues with the two controllers:

DS3:  The Symmetry would actually make more sense if the controller was larger, but I liked that It was smaller.  It is now larger and keeps the same design for the most part.  I do like the updated Analog sticks but I know I will miss the Analog sticks being buttons (I loved the nice little click) and they are a bit stiffer.  The Triggers got some needed work as well.

360:  Assymety makes more sense to me if the controller was smaller, to move your fingers away from one another, but I liked that it was larger. It is now a bit smaller (not really sure how much) and I liked the stiffer analog sticks (i just thought they needed to be "softer" not sure if thats the word I want to use).

Believe it or not, the Original Xbox fatty controller is my favorite MS controller, by far.  Love that thing.  Its huge and I have broken it a few times (always replaced without an issue during the Xbox's life).  It was large and different from every other controller I had used enough, that it "felt" like a new and different interface.  Might just be nostalgia, as I have not turned on my original Xbox in a few years.

My favorite Playstation controller is the original Dual Shock.  I bought a PS1 and later a PSOne (which came with the white dual shock).  The upgrade to analog sticks was just awesome.  I still have my original Dual Shock connected to my computer and use it when I can.

I sold my PSOne, because the controller sucked compared to the N64 controller.
Fast forward to 2013 and the controller for the Playstation has not evolve much. The sticks are still badly placed, that is what kills it for me.

Once you played a FPS on the Xbox 360, there is no return.

Wait... you're saying the sticks on the Dual Shock controllers are badly placed and mention your preference for the N64 contoller?

dudes he's not biased at all. he obviously has 3 hands!

From more recent interviews where the rumble triggers on Xbox One have been now put into game demos like Forza 5, it adds amazing feedback just not possible without. I fear once ive tried the rumble features with games like Forza 5 where you get feedback under braking ( ABS, Traction ) I wont be able to play without.

I can't see you playing Forza with a controller... sorry but you are saying something that won't be used for sim racing fans.

I can't tell if he's serious, honestly. But if he has been playing sims all this time with a controller, that explains a lot. The "sometimes I don't want to set up the wheel" line is no excuse, since he says "I won't be able to play without [the trigger rumble]".

after this guy got caught lying about a ps3 purchase and his increadibly flat words of massive excitment over every MS product...

...i think he's just a MS marketing department employee paid to influcence social media.

wait, really!? link?

im not surprised though
