Love the comments about "people reviewing this wrong". lol

You don't understand true art if you rate this game under a 9.

What a load of BS

Get over yourself

It's important to look at context when reading a post.  If you don't know the poster, take a look at his avatar and signature.  This will tell you that wfz is a Ninty and PC guy.  He is most certainly not serious with that statement.

How do I put this? Let me see. I played BEYOND demo, LOVED. My copy will arrive at my home tomorrow, and if it is half the game Heavy Rain was and a 25% of what the demo showed, I will love it.

Why?

Because all this shooting, ridding, open world, headshot, deathmatch, all this stuff, IS VERY COOL, but it gets kinda boring after a while. WE NEED crazy diferent games like Heavy Rain and Beyond to unwind after GTA5, befor we can dive into WatchDogs. Then we need something crazy like South Park, befor we can go on to Killzone or Dead Rising 3.
That is why I LOVE QUANTIC DREAM and David Cage.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

I think the problem is that the whole concept of a major story component in a game is still not acceptable to reviewers (and obviously a portion of the gaming userbase)... they see it as just a movie and not really much of a game (I disagree with that but thats life :)

The games market has *changed*, the type of experiences and the types of users have also changed... unfortunately reviewers don't always seem to get it. I still think reviews are taken a little too seriously by readers who look to validate their game choices. I mean 6 out of 10 isnt terrible if we use the full 10 scale. But unless a game gets 8 or above its crap, or if its a AAA game it has to get 10 or its crap.

People all over the world are playing games that ultimately the aim of the game is to tap the screen (Simpsons, Cookie Clicker, Curisosity)... and reviewers/gamers are loving it... but you do a game where you have a major CGI element with gaming elements thrown in and thats wrong in many peoples eyes.

You could say that Heavy Rain, Beyond are a new generation of Dragons Lair, but with more freedom, but why is that a bad thing. The Beyond demo had many different experiences and gameplay elements, yes it involved pressing/pushing/moving within a confined environment... hey guess what like 99% of most games ;)

I guess what I am saying is that a story heavy game is not a bad thing if thats the type of game you like or like to indulge now and again. I play so many different genres and types of games, its crazy, but how many are like QD's games... none really. I play so many games with shooting, open world, running, jumping, sliding, etc etc... actually once or twice every couple of years, its actually a lovelly change of pace and just want to focus on the story elements with some interactivity :)

Hey now, I try to stay as clear-headed and unbiased as possible. Don't go putting me in any camps! :P

Sorry if I offended anyone with my first statement. Not everyone is blessed with the ability to appreciate true art.

Anyways, I do find it amazing how polarizing this game is. Some sites apparently love it (Gamespot) while others are trashing it (IGN is hardly the worst "offender" here).

Haven't finished the game so I won't defend it (yet ).

Cool of yosp to tweet that though!

I still don't get how TWD gets such amazing scores yet Cage's games are knocked for "not letting you play" or being "interactive movies"

Talk about a double standard. I love them both but TWD is LESS interactive and your choices matter less than in Heavy Rain. I heard Beyond changes the ending a little less than Heavy Rain but still has some serious game changing choices which is more than we can say for TWD where choices would usually just amount to changing a face with the scene acting out the same way. I loved them both but people need to choose whether they like this sort of game or not. If you like one how can you hate the other on that same principle of playability? If you didn't like the story then fine, but don't insult Beyond for not being interactive enough after giving TWD a 95 or something.

Let's see when Ryse gets bad review. Will you agree then as well? Hmm..

I will accept the metacritic average yes.  Why wouldnt I?  Will it stop me buying it?  No.

I suggest you stay on topic and stop beig so defensive.

You could try answering the point I raised if you wish, and then we could have a proper discussion... or you can carry on with weak come backs?

So... explain to me what "reviewing it wrong" means?

Sincerely, I'm starting to enjoy your posts

Just checked metacritic for it. Damn that is what you call mixed reviews :D from 10 to 4 :D
Very polarizing. Good to know Yoshida's stance on the matter.

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

David Cage is the new Suda51 of gaming, except he relies on tech demos and quick time events instead of all the Tarantino-like imagery.

No wonders though. There are fan bases for much more unusual things.

I really think the main thing Cage's game have going against them compared to TWD are the conrols and the story.  TWD was a point and click title but it's controls are pretty reasonable.  Just walk towards stuff and use the right stick to move your cursor.  Cage's games always seem to have trouble with just walking, Heavy Rain had those tank like controls while Beyond took those out but still definitely feels off for one reason or another.  Cage's stories don't seem to be as good as TWD either.  To me it's like HEavy Rain has the story of an action suspense movie where it's exciting but you don't get too deeply into the characters.  You don't have those moments of standing around and just talking with people to get to know them like you do in TWD.  Heavy Rain was something interesting and different with the ide3a of multiple protagonists that made game overs somewhat impossible, I'm not surprised that his second endeavor isn't being as well recieved.

Heavy Rain was emotionally gripping for me an many others (sold over 3m I think they announced recently).  It made chopping off a finger feel more painful and hard to do than all the gratuitious killing in this gen combined.  The first time I played things ended really badly and I was tearing up at the end.  It also had an excellent sense of pacing.  When things ramped up you felt it because you would go from a half hour of suspenseful plot building (investing crime scenes, opening oragami, getting a car) to being on the edge of your seat (driving into oncoming traffic, chopping off a finger, or running from police).  TWD gave you those highs and lows as well with lots of dialog and character surrounded by the occasional unexpected zombie attack.  Heavy Rain did have bad acting at times especially by children but it was a solid gripping story.  Willem Dafoe is one of my favorite actors ever (Boondock Saints and Green Goblin) and Ellen seems cool so I'm sure that will be improved (gotta pick up my copy later today).
