I don't see the big deal about Microsoft doing this, every device now a days is data collecting.

Excellent stance. I take it you also don't seal any letters you post and leave your front door unlocked at all times, because obviously you have nothing to hide?

O brave new world, that has such people in't!

Yes because a physical letter is a device constantly connected to a server which can be read by anyone anywhere in the world.

So just like every other device then including Google devices, Youtube, Amazon, walmart, etc

All it does is recommend you things based off of your interests. Not really a bad thing at all. Just leads you to other things you may want to buy.

Basically, indeed. Unless they sell or give the information to people that will use it for anything else.

Database are of great value in 21th century.

Sure you can be paranoid if you want to be.  Then again anything you signup for has the potential of doing that.  "Anything you sign up for"

Isnt it great how people love to take things out of context to create news stories?

Yeah exactly. Sprinkle in some supercharged wording like "Kinect 2 SPIES on you...." and wah-lah, a cool story bro.

I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.

THIS WAS POSTED LAST NIGHT, and this is just taking it hilariously out of context

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

The thread last night was about targeted ads being optional. This topic is about the fact that Kincet 2 collects personal data and you have no way to opt out of it. Kindly explain which part of this is taken out of context here?

"Well certainly with the Xbox 360, we had some challenges at the launch. Once we identified that we took control of it. We wanted to do it right by our customers. Our customers are very important to us." -Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb (10/2013). Note: RRoD was fixed with the Jasper-revision 3 years after the launch of 360

"People don't pay attention to a lot of the details."-Yusuf Mehdi explaining why Xbone DRM scheme would succeed

"Fortunately we have a product for people who aren't able to get some form of connectivity; it's called Xbox 360,”-Don Mattrick

"The region locking of the 3DS wasn't done for profits on games"-MDMAlliance

I don't like it but it isn't really special. Pretty much everything tracks you. Google, Facebook, Microsoft, the girl outside the window, Sony... the list just goes on and on.

@ OP good Job modifying the quotes to spread missinformation. Here is the full quote:

"The comments in Ad Age attributed to Yusuf Mehdi were not in relation to Kinect. We do not have plans to target ads or content to you based on any data Kinect collects. We have a long-standing commitment to your privacy and will not target ads to you based on any data Kinect collects unless you choose to allow us to do so.

"Furthermore, we will give you a clear explanation of what is collected and how it will be used. Importantly, we do not collect your personal information to share or sell to third parties, and you are fully in control over what personal data is shared.

"We have strict policies to protect your privacy and these policies will continue to be upheld with our next generation product."

Also Microsoft is legaly required to work with the NSA. But along with Google the are currently fighting the NSA in court to try and stop it.

I don't know about Canada, but in the US they are working on scanning everything sent through the post office. Including physical letters.

did you read the sony one?  you might be surprised...

I read an article about it. And yeah, I don't read terms of use, because I prefer to play.

And I didn't say Sony were better, of course you cannot trust a big company.

All I'm saying is that it is not something good.
