Forums - General - EB Games Expo: Sony gives free PS4s to disabled gamer ; Microsoft "Sorry brah"

I like how people are spinning this as if it isn't really a good thing or that while Sony said they would do it they were initially only telling the folks what they wanted to hear.

They didn't HAVE to do anything, you know that right?

I love the console wars.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

So far, I've read 2 or 3 posts of people posting about the amount of philanthropy MS does and of course no one responds. Why? Because this is a Sony biased site. And, as Sony fans, they choose to ignore any counter argument. But hey, let's keep claiming Sony is the hero here. After all, their philanthropic efforts eclipse MS ones.

And actually they didnt, they promise to send a console. But they havent done it

Maybe Kinect doesn't support cripples

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

I would have apologized and maybe had some employees help him up the stairs to be able to play the games, but I wouldn't send someone a free PS4 just because they're handicapped. Sony probably relished the positive media coverage and over-gifted, while Microsoft didn't react enough. Both were ridiculous.

Well, then people can get on them if and when these people don't get their consoles.

At this point we have people finding a negative just for the sake of finding a negative.

You know the internt.... People will always find a way to complain.

XO Preorder cancelled

very nice of the sony rep but not sure why this is a reason why people try to let microsoft look bad since the reaction of the microsoft guy was just the "standard" reaction. does every company have to give people in wheelchairs their products for free now just because they can't reach the product to check it out on a fair or wherever?

it's laughable how companies and also their employees pay billions for charity (if sony or microsoft) but if one companies employee doesn't do the same as the other for some single person, people on the internet make a big deal out of it. i mean, really?

what's next? someone trying to bash sony or their employees because the employees paid 1,000 bucks on average to charity and microsoft employees 1,100?

You guys.... these are giant mega-corporations we're talking about. Tens of thousands of employees in a dozen countries throughout the world. Layers upon layers of embedded practices and bureaucracies that none of us could hope to unravel.

You guys think either one of them is inherently "good" or "bad"?

They simply exist. Their sole purpose is to make as much money as possible for themselves and their shareholders. What probably happened was someone at Sony took pity on the handicap person and offered a free PS4 at launch for the inconvenience. An individual. Not an entire company. Someone working the Microsoft presence at the show obviously didn't have the same reaction. So what?

That any of you are defending and/ or chiding an entire corporation and passing judgement because of this single, insignificant incident, is confounding to say the least.
