Forums - Gaming - GTA Online is kind of crappy.

After the patch you can actually get in and play, and aside from the times a race or deathmatch doesn't allow you to join or kicks you out, or missions that have never once worked for me other than the prologue mission, I think GTA Online kindof sucks.

I'll talk about what's good first.  Racing.  I haven't seen any teleporting vehicles.  Every time I nudged or hit a vehicle, it gave a reaction.  So no noticeable lag during any races.

Deathmatches or last man standing is the only other gameplay that's working and this is what doesn't work.  If you have only a few people in  the room, doesn't seem like there are any lag issues between what appears on screen and you or the enemy getting damaged.  However, even on small matches, the GPS doesn't work properly.  Someone might be shooting and they don't show up on the radar sometimes, sometimes they're shooting and they do.  I was right next to someone shooting one time and nothing.  The other thing is that if you do see the persons marker on the radar, it's way the hell off sometimes.  You might see the marker right appear right in front of you, almost right on you, and then you're looking for them only to see the person running a distance away from the marker.

The same thing with the radar applies to larger matches.  I was in a few 16 player matches and a few times I was on an upper balcony looking down at the ground where people were supposedly at and absolutely nothing.  It's like.  Wtf?  But that's not even the bad part.  The worst part is people sometimes appear out of thin air.  You might see t he person on the radar and see no one there, but then you see the person popping in and out of view.  Not behind anything, just turning invisible out in the open, and then staying visible.  This was kind of often in the 16 player games.

Oh.  And remember when Rockstar said that there would be 32 players?  Complete bullshit sell.  There's a 16 person limit in a server, so they lied to everyone's faces.

16 people on the 360 + 16 people on the Ps3 = 32 players per match at the same time. No one lied

Actually Rockstar did not say that, that was a rumor. And most likely after only three days that patch didn't fix every bug and problem, I don't even expect everything to be running perfectly until next week, you're better off playing something else until everything completely gets sorted or else you're gonna have a bad time.

^Just Googled and found where Rockstar denied 32 players. Everything else still applies.

I edited my other post but you might not see it now that you already responded but I doubt that patch fixed everything, or for that matter even half the problems the online is still having youre better off playing something else for another 2 weeks.

I know they didn't fix everything, that's clear, but it's a really shitty experience for something that should have been available day one after launch.  Not, my theory, wait two weeks so they make extra profit without losing money on used game sales.  I think my theory is true now more than ever.

Probably delayed it so it wouldn't affect its Metascore.

I read you're theory but I doubt it's the case. Rockstar isn't some evil company that kept offline off for two weeks to keep used game sales down (at least imo). Though releasing online two weeks late i agree is a bad idea because they let everyone beat the singleplayer in the mean time just so 20 million people (rough estimate) in one day can all log in and overload the online infastracture which rockstar probably didn't have ready for that amount of people. COD, BF, and Halo have had infrastructures for years that could handle player counts like this since their multiplayer focused game but I think Rockstar didn't quite know what to expect. But If rockstar are the evil corporation you make them out to be then they probably learned their lesson with this whole debacle the past 3 days. You know all the shit they're taking on their websites? Thousands upon thousands of nasty posts over there and all the negative articles over the internet, their rep has taken quite the hit.

All I know is I've had some of the best gaming fun i've had in many years due to the SP so I can forgive them.

I'm sure once everything is up and running smoothly it will be great, but until then it's too early to judge considering it's kinda broken at the moment.

my cousin just called me up complaining about it. he said he entered a capture the coke game, which understandably would have you killing eachother alot, cost him 20k from all the deaths. i had yet to try online, but atleast not touching the game for 3 days has made my single player investments worth billions
