Forums - Gaming - Shuhei Yoshida: No Comment on 3DS Competition; Aims to Boost PS Vita With Games and PS4 Remote Play

That will work, to some extension. I own a vita, played Machinariun and Rayman Origins last night in bed, it is a really cool system, but it will never sell as much as the 3DS.
The PS4 will make it cooler when it launches, it will be nice to play a little PS4 on the bed before going to sleep.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

All he's saying is that it serves no purpose for them to focus on catching the 3DS with the Vita. That's all. That would make no sense at this point. Rather, they have to focus on what they can do to improve the product. That makes perfect sense.

Some people seem intent on turning this into something else, however, relative to their own agenda.

Seriously can we just can it with these kinds of comments?

A few questions to put this into proper perspective:

1. Is the 3DS competing in the same market as the Vita? Yes.

2. Is the 3DS dominating the market in Japan? Yes.

3. Does this affect the Vita? Yes.

4. Does Sony want to acknowledge it? No. Of course not.

5. Does Sony think it can have greater odds by differentiating itself from Nintendo's offerings? Yes.

6. Does Sony acknowledge the 3DS as a competition? No.

It's not about turning anything into anything, but about calling a spade a spade. Unless you just want people to close their eyes.

Well, no, I'm not going to "can" that kind of comment just because you don't like it, especially since it's true.  What Yoshida was saying had nothing to do with ANY of what you're saying.  I know what you want, I know why you're here, you want this to be 3DS vs. Vita, so you're going to do the best you can, like the OP, to turn this into that--despite the fact that the content, and the subject of Yoshida's comments, are totally and completely about their plans for the Vita.

Reread what Yoshida actually said then perhaps you'll realize that your little list is completely off-topic.

Yoshida said nothing about the 3DS not being VITA competition. He said it doesnt make sense for them to concentrate on catching the 3DS but more just to improve the base of the VITA in general. In other words make the VITA a successful platform. The VITA can be successful at the same time as the 3DS.

Right now VITA is doing badly irrespective of competition.

A good example is the PS3. It got beat by competition for most of this gen but its been a successful platform for a while now, regardless of how well the compettion is doing.

And what about the PSP? It didn't reach DS-levels of sales yet it did its own thing. The PS3 doing what it did is nothing compared to what the Sony brand is capable of doing in the home console space.

However, when it comes to market dominance, that's Nintendo's thing in the handheld space. Is it really careful business sense to ignore the dominating platform on the market?

Unless Shuhei has a really good idea of what he's doing and has a few aces up his sleeve, the logic you and pokoko are proposing are insane from a business perspective in the current handheld climate.

The problem with people who are by the book like yourself is that you lack vision and a bigger picture. You wanted truth.

Wow, this topic totally went to shit real quick.

Not even sure if the actual subject matter has been touched upon yet.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

when asked on what he plans to do to catch up to the 3DS.

"We don’t necessarily talk about catching up to the 3DS"

We're on topic and anyone who says otherwise totally missed the point of this thread.

Sorry I just get frustrated with the attitudes I see in this thread.

Denial

Calling a topic off topic when it isn't

Not discussing business topics that matter.

Saying people have an agenda.

Sticking to strict semantics rather than understanding the bigger picture.

etc.
