Forums - General - Do you wear a watch? What device do you use to tell the time?

No. I use my cell phone as a time keeper.

I do wear a watch. it is part of my job outfit. Shirt, Tie, Suit, Shoes and Watch. Thats why I have bought a watch that fits my suits. I got a silver band as I dont want to go into that all black (shoes, belt, watch) and all brown (shoes, belt, watch) stuff as you then have to have two watches.

My watch is a Certina DS Tradition made in Switzerland:

And fkusumot, I really like your watches as they do one thing that a lot of new watches dont: They are simple and nice to look at.

That Certina is a good watch.

@TomaTito - Old watches are more prone to "break" than new watches. But to put it in some perspective, the best watches were for many decades carried by railroad engineers and were used to make sure trains weren't going to collide on the train tracks. The railroad engineer is the guy that is driving the train. The railroad pocket watch was for many years considered the most mechanically advanced invention that man had made until a rocketship was made. Electronics now make a mechanical watch anachronistic but I think they are still interesting and useful.

I hate wearing a watch. I have a brick Nokia phone, and I just pull that out of my pocket to check the time.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

When I was younger one of my favorite ways of wearing a watch was, when wearing it on my left wrist, to wear the face of the watch on the inside of the wrist instead of the outside. Cavalry men did this so they could glance down at the reins and see the watch which was facing them due to the way the reins were held.

My own application, hardly ever used, was to check the time when I was making out with somebody. With you arm around there shoulder and left hand on their opposite shoulder you had a full view of your timepiece. Never was late to dinner or movies that way.

My favorite watch for under $100:

I do wear a watch.
As long as i remember i always have, and if i go out without it my wrist just feels uncomfortable.
I have had for nearly three years now a Festina 8874 which looks like that :

(But i had the metal bracelet removed and put the leather one instead)
