When I was younger one of my favorite ways of wearing a watch was, when wearing it on my left wrist, to wear the face of the watch on the inside of the wrist instead of the outside. Cavalry men did this so they could glance down at the reins and see the watch which was facing them due to the way the reins were held.
My own application, hardly ever used, was to check the time when I was making out with somebody. With you arm around there shoulder and left hand on their opposite shoulder you had a full view of your timepiece. Never was late to dinner or movies that way.
