Don't worry the fucking NSA won't be affected.

What kind of pussy ass shutdown is this?!

Don't worry the national parks, IRS, FHA, most of the SEC, etc will be shutdown (non essentials).  Be nice if they stopped taking tax money out of my paycheck since the IRS is non essential.

Senate Democrats keep rejecting the house CR's. Republicans will still get the blame for the shutdown. IMO the government being shutdown won't cause an economic disaster like people seem to think. Remember how bad sequester was supposed to be for the economy? Nothing happened. "Politics is show business for the ugly"

The blame game here is incredible. One side refuses to even THINK about a compromise (the president) and the other says they want one and everyone knows they dont (the house). Its crazy.

If only the government shutdown actually affected the people who are going to do it...Id be 100% for it. Right now, I just want the government to feel some pain and get the fuck over themselves.

That's one Obama refuses to compromise. He knows the responsibility for this (and the blame) will fall squarely on Republicans in the house. Meanwhile, Republicans with their badly gerrymandered districts feel that they are invulnerable from any challenge from the Left, which is why they're willing to kowtow to the fringe Right and not worry that the majority of moderates do not want a government shutdown, because rationally a Tea Party primary challenger is the only threat most sitting Republican Representatives have to worry about.

One thing is sure: if this mess goes on for too much longer, there won't be a Republican in a contested district that lives through 2014, short of individual mistakes by the individual Democratic challengers (like an Anthony Weiner-esque thing)

Well, that's one prespective I haven't heard.

Really? I haven't seen a single poll that suggests that the Republicans will come out of this mess looking better than Obama or Reid.

Are Americans going to lose faith in the government as a whole? Hell yes. But only the R's are going to come out of this really hurting.

I agree!

Obama-care isn't the actual name of the health plan. I just hope they resolve this quickly, if they shutdown for a few days then no big deal but if it goes on for lets say 3 weeks then it will start to hurt our economy etc....

It may as well be.  That's the term Obama uses half the time as well.

As for hurting our Economy.  People forget this happened under Clinton... mostly because it didn't really have much of an effect.

It lasted for 3 freakin months.

The economic Stimulus is being run through the Federal Reserve, which while being a federal institution, it actually makes a profit and pays for itself. (and gives a bunch of excess money to the government).

So that's not at risk.

That's really it more or less.

Personally I was hoping Obama would be big enough and just accept the 1 year delay on Obamacare in the last issue.   I mean they already delayed Obamacare for buisnesses for one year.  So it's bullshit that tons of people will have to buy their own insurance when their companies are supposed to be providing for it.

I don't see why they would. The President takes the brunt of the blame and I don't see how much lower opinion of the Democrats can fall. Of course, those who always blame Republicans will still do and vice versa.

Republicans took the blunt of the blame under Clinton... and that was back when the media wasn't picking sides or pushing blame.

Also by not raising the debt limit by the way.  Nobody made such a big deal about it back then though.

and back then the Republican's demands were much less.

This is basically the '95 Shutdown all over again... but with less popular republicans and more media blame.
