Forums - Gaming Discussion - Crytek CEO: Ryse wouldn’t have run at 1080p on PS4 (Decision was choice, not hurdle)

At first I thought this was more of the Guerrilla Games type PR shenanigans like "constant 60FPS is actually not as good as having variable framerate". But I realize he is just saying they could have made the game 1080p on either console but would have had to change the game too much. It's either a testament to how great Ryse looks, or how disappointing these 2 consoles are.

Have a happy and long life.

Crytek didn't develop Beyond Two Souls.

Two souls is a gameish movie :P

Hurdle to be overcome

Sure, trying to defend a game that your interested in by taking a shot at a game with potential intention to infuriate others. So please enlighten me, how is Beyond Two Souls a "gameish tech demo"?

Well I'm not interested in Beyond Two Souls because its barely a game. Does it even require skill to play?

But lets get back on topic, Ryse. Boy, that looks like a game. Hopefully its fun game!

I agree Ryse seems like average fun, not for me though it's looks like a simplistic button masher with loads of QTE's David Cage approves.

I think you're describing God of War. :-p

The E3 video looked like a QTE game. But more recent video showed a combat system similar to Assassin's Creed.

My expections for Ryse aren't very high. But I am intrigued by it.

It's definitely a good mid-tier game, I'm not overly intrigued by it. That can easily change for me, especially after I thought KI looked bad at first now that's one of my most anticipated games. Still hope Ryse turns out to be good it will help make my decision as to which console to get much more easier. But It more reminds me of Darksiders 1 combat than AC, whether that's a good or bad thing depends I guess.

Lol at GoW being average fun...

If Ryse manages to match GoW in critical acclaim I will be impressed. If it manages to match its commercial success I will eat my imaginary topper.

But you didn't "Lol" at GoW being a button masher and riddled with QTEs, because that's the game in nutshell. People enjoy the GoW story more than the gameplay. Same can be said for a lot of IPs though.

It doesn't matter if Ryse has a similar or better critical reception than GoW. They aren't even the same style of game. Its like comparing Mario Kart with Gran Turismo. You Sony fans are silly sometimes.
