If you're talking about Battalion Wars, it's part of the "Wars" series, which Advance Wars is also part of.

Also, it was developed by Kuju Entertainment, who also developed the sequel.  I'd imagine if there was going to be a third game, it'd be them again.  

It's been 6 years though, so it's not looking likely.  However, I would be very excited if Nintendo announced Battalion Wars 3.

To be honest, I have the feeling Nintendo simply forgot they announced SMTxFE already.

This is their chance of redeeming themselves after the catastrophic 3DS Paper Mario.

There's a Fire Emblem announced already, even if it's a crossover spin-off. They've also just released a Wario game so they probably won't make a new one yet.

I'm finishing The Thousand-Year-Door for the sixth time, so I'm hoping for another Paper Mario game that's along those lines and not the more recent versions.

I'm not holding my breath, though.....
