Forums - Nintendo - Emily Rogers: “Wii U Owners Better Buy Ubisoft Games”

I doubt this has much to do with Splinter Cell but it almost certainly has a lot to do with upcoming Ubisoft games that WILL sell very well on other platforms. The Wii U versions will have to make a decent showing, at the very least. This isn't just about Ubisoft, either, as I'm sure the rest of the industry will be watching.

The preemptive excuses are just getting ridiculous, though.

doesnt look very rosy considering the low preorders for the WIi U versions of those games. Hell i havent seen ANY 3rd party games on the preorder charts

Third parties cannot compete with double standards.

Enlighten me.

Generally Nintendo fans, especially those on forums will trash a third party game for not doing something while defending a Nintendo game for not doing the same thing.

If they would take the same finger they use to point at third party games and point at Nintendo they would find a lot less to complain about.

Cannot blame third parties, they see Nintendo fans buying something in mass and cheering about it, then when they release a similar featured product suddenly they find themselves blasted and being called lazy and so forth by those same fans.

Nintendo games are generally better than third party ones, simple.

Why would I bother buying Ubisoft games that I don't really care about?

I think it is Ubisoft's job to show why Wii U owners should care about their games. They fucked up with Rayman, I was going to get t until I heard that it was going to be multiplatform - then what's the point of getting excited about a game that is not specially tooled for the Wii U?

Considering that most Ubisoft games are multiplatform that's just something you'll have to deal with if you want their games. And Rayman Legends didn't change because of the delay, so if you don't like the result (it does feature extra content made for the u-screen) then you wouldn't have liked it as a Wii U exclusive either.

If it hadn't been delayed, I probably would have bought it. I don't think Ubisoft has been very convincing in why I should spend time and money on their delayed multiplatform game. If Ubisoft wants more than a few thousand people to be interested in their game, they should be proving why it is good. So far I have seen no marketing, and no non-Internet people are talking about it. On the other hand, I have heard a lot more about Donkey Kong Country TF, and I am going to buy that one.

Watch Dogs, until I entered this thread, I didn't even realize it was going to be on Wii U. A few months ago I recall reading an article saying it had been quietly canned for the Wii U.

I want Ubisoft to prove to me why I, as a Nintendo fan, should be interested in their games. I am not interested in hearing "Buy our games or we won't support your console." I am interested in hearing "The Wii U version of this game is really cool, and we're going to tell you why you're going to want this version more than the other versions."

You've heard it, everyone. Buy Ubisoft games to show them that halfassed is good enough for you.

I've never heard of her either. No Wikipedia article.

As far as I can tell, she is someone who is supposed to have insider info, she is English and not Japanese.

Due to the lack of any kind of wikipedia article, I would guess the thread starter is not being truthful about her importance.

Many Nintendo fans like to act like they're the ony ones who recieve lazy, gimped or late versions of games and use that as an excuse to not buy games. Well other companies get late ports, lazy ports and/or gimped ports and the games still sell most of the time.

Just because a game got ported late, looks slightly worse, has a worse framerate or has something missing doesn't mean it isn't worth buying or is a bad game.

If Watch dogs and ACIV don't outsell Wind Waker HD thid parties should drop the WiiU because is clear the fanbase don't really care about third party and just want the same thing from Nintendo over and over.

Who else receives them in such quantity? Be honest, now.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

It's Kyliedog, I don't think I've ever seen him post anything in a pleasant manner.

in the beggining of year, rayman legends would sell tons, due the gamepad novelty(witch made zumbi U sell a lot), no competition(no GTAV, no WWHD). we saw lego city and zumbi U sell very well, and i doubt they would sell that much if released in september.

but whats done is done.
could be a bad ideia, but nintendo should give the development of the next 2d mario to ubisoft.
they will finaly sell well a game in wii U, it would be a high quality game, would be quite different of 2d mario games, and keep a good relationship with ubisoft.

I want Nintendo to succeed, but I'm going to buy what I think are the best games on the platform regardless of publisher. If Ubisoft publishes most of those purchased games, then it sounds like everyone wins. Still, it's ridiculous that Nintendo console owners are the only ones that have to "earn" third-party titles.
