Dat number. Its insane. I was hoping to get gtx 780 next year. But I might reconsider my decision. Awesome news.

Battlefield 4 Demo Was Running On A Single R9 290X At AMD’s Event At 5760×1080

You’ve heard about Mantle and how it will boost the performance of AMD’s cards on Battlefield 4, right? Well, today we get a glimpse of what we can expect from that low-level API. According to AMD, Battlefield 4′s demo (at its recent AMD event) was running on a single R9 290X card at 5760×1080 (though it has not been confirmed whether it was running with constant 60fps. We should note that we did not notice any slowdowns, so we are most probably looking at a 60fps gameplay heaven). 

Now that’s simply spectacular. Rumor has it that R9 290X’s specs are lower than those of Nvidia’s Titan card, yet with Mantle it seems that AMD’s latest GPU will be able to compete – or even surpass – Nvidia’s GPU flagship. Seems after all that AMD’s comment – about R9 290X surpassing the Titan – was true after all.

We’re still a bit skeptical about this whole ‘Mantle’ thing, and whether it will be use-able from other GPU manufacturers. Yes yes, AMD claimed that Mantle will be open and Nvidia will be able to use it – though during its presentation the red team claimed that Mantle works only via GCN, and as well all know Nvidia’s cards are not based on that architecture.

Damn. I wish I was a rich man. I would buy 3 of those, get them in crossfire and watch the eye candy all day long...

I would do something more special. If I were a rich man I would use a "Super Computer" to play games. Getting a single gtx 780 + other updrage will make me poor next year.

This is good news for me as I wait in anticipation for Quad R9 290X's. :)

Just need 4k 60hz monitors to become more readily available and at a decent price.

Finally: some real competition! Price wars here we come!!

Well. I'm sick of not maxing games out with Triple Radeon 7970's and maintaining 60fps. :P

Besides, my PC as it stands is essentially 2 years old!

Keeping the 3930K CPU as it overclocks like a champ and the 4930K is simply not worth another $680 for a 5% increase in IPC.
Got a new motherboard (Ditching the Asus Sabertooth X79 for the Asus Rampage IV x79), new Ram, new Case, new PSU...
Essentially Red+Black themed this time instead of military themed.

Just need the R9 290X's with reference PCB's and to wait on some new shiny water blocks and I'm set. :)
