So, I'm probably just being delusional?

Phew.

Most probably.

Mario Kart and Smash Bros. alone will make 2014 superior to 2013. I do hope they don't release them too close together like they did for Wii (about 2 months apart) or else we might be facing another summer drought. Also, like many said, the titles for holiday 2014 won't be known until E3.

Looking at its development cycle, I doubt SSB4 will be ready before late 2014. Sorry, but two years just seem to be cutting it a bit close. If anything, I expect it to be the star of the Wii U's holiday. Like you said though, with Mario Kart in the spring, that's already two killer apps spread throughout the year. I guess I'm just worried that we'll have another Wii 2008 on our hands, with plenty of killer apps but relatively few games.

Also, probably Zelda U, Miyamoto's new IP, SMT x FE, other unannounced games and they have for sure still unannounced games for 2014. From a First party point of View it will be a lot better then 2014.

EDIT: Third Sonic game, probably Adventure 3 after Sega trademarked it 1-2 years ago.

you're missing batman, AC4, watch dogs and call of retrocess as 2013 multiplatforms.

but anyway, 2014 already have huge hitters announced + many unannounced titles. it will easily beat 2013 lineup. also, shin megami tensei vs fire emblem.

Why does everyone - even Nintendo fans - seem to pretend that this fall's major multiplats aren't coming to Wii U?

Probably because Nintendo fans dont care. When I look at upcoming WiiU games I want not 1 is multiplatform (well Smash bros is but thats with 3DS). And there chances of selling well (especially compared to other SKUs) is pretty low
