Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Why Konami games don´t sell well on the 3DS?

Lords of Shadow barely sold a million units on a massive budget. Mirror of Fate couldn't even break 100k. Lords of Shadow 2 looks like another bomb. All Konami had to do was create a 3D Symphony of the Night. Same exact game, but in one more dimension. Sort of like how when Metroid Prime made the jump to 3D, it still kept it's exploration roots intact. Lords of Shadow was nothing more than a God of War clone, and not a very good one at that.

I don't think the budget was massive as far as such games go, and Dave Cox proclaimed it the most successful Castlevania ever. Take it up with him!

But yeah, I'd much rather see a 3D Symphony of the Night. Which we were supposed to get once upon a time. Hopefully LOS2 has more exploration elements.

Dave Cox just likes stroking his own ego. And yes that game could have been amazing. Maybe one day...

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

metal gear shouldn't ever expect monster sales, being a glorified late port.

about castlevania, I played the demo and that's simply not castlevania. fans didn't like it and that's it.

My BIGGEST problem in Lords of Shadows was the music.  Honestly, if they included classic Castlevania music and more recognizable enemies (really?  You couldn't include a couple of mermen, bone pillars, or medusa heads?) I think people wouldn't have had as big of a problem with it being an "alternate universe Castlevania reboot."

The Metroidvania's were getting pretty bad, though, I was tired of playing the same game and never playing as a Belmont.  Order of Ecclesia was a step in the right direction though, they changed a lot up and it felt fresh.  (For the record, I bought all the Metroidvanias AND I bought Lords of Shadows, and liked it,  but I didn't get the 3DS game.  Too many mediocre reviews.)

I loved order of ecclesia. was expecting for the series to follow up it's style but ended up with a portable god of war.

Needs more Suikoden.

With the exception of Metal Gear Solid, usually, I don't think Konami games sell well in general. Even one of their most famous franchises, Castlevania, has tiny sales. It's a wonder the series has survived for almost 30 years. That said, I can't say I know anything about the quality of these 3DS games though. All I know is I played the Mirror of Fate Demo and thought it was decent, but not decent enough to actually buy the game...
