Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Why Konami games don´t sell well on the 3DS?

Castlevania would have sold if Konami itself would have developed it. They should stick to doing Metroidvania games and stop giving the franchise to MercurySteam.

I wish I could believe this. But I don't think people care about that style of Castlevania anymore, and LOS is probably the biggest the series has ever been.

They need to make better games. 3DS owners have some very good options.

It's also the worst in my opinion . I really wish we could go back to those old Castlevania titles.

Solid 2d action platformers?

(Don't mind me, I'm just soaking up the tears of all the "Metroidvania" fans, seeing as how all I've wanted from the series was a return to it's roots, and the metroid style games where getting VERY derivative.)

Both! I loved the old 2D action platformers but love even more the Metroidvania like games. In fact it's one of my favourite series thanks to the music!

My BIGGEST problem in Lords of Shadows was the music.  Honestly, if they included classic Castlevania music and more recognizable enemies (really?  You couldn't include a couple of mermen, bone pillars, or medusa heads?) I think people wouldn't have had as big of a problem with it being an "alternate universe Castlevania reboot."

The Metroidvania's were getting pretty bad, though, I was tired of playing the same game and never playing as a Belmont.  Order of Ecclestia was a step in the right direction though, they changed a lot up and it felt fresh.  (For the record, I bought all the Metroidvanias AND I bought Lords of Shadows, and liked it,  but I didn't get the 3DS game.  Too many mediocre reviews.)

Mirror of Fate was awful, the DS titles solid well because they were amazing games.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

Lords of Shadow barely sold a million units on a massive budget. Mirror of Fate couldn't even break 100k. Lords of Shadow 2 looks like another bomb. All Konami had to do was create a 3D Symphony of the Night. Same exact game, but in one more dimension. Sort of like how when Metroid Prime made the jump to 3D, it still kept it's exploration roots intact. Lords of Shadow was nothing more than a God of War clone, and not a very good one at that.

Yep that is the main reason why I didn't buy the game yet. For me the music in a Castlevania game is really important! I will probably never get into the lord of shadow series, even though it is absurdly cheap the first game I know i won't like it...

I still loved the Metroidvania's even though they never changed too much. I just loved to explore those games and beat them to 100% completition while listening to the awesome soundtrack. I really hope Castlevania makes a comeback in the next years, I really love the franchise . I played through all the games in the series and beat them... I guess I'll have to stick with the classics.
