So there has been alot of talk about casuals leaving consoles for smartphones/tablets but I dont think its true. Those types of devices dont offer the social gathering type of gameplay. Wii thrived off of that, games u would play with a group of friends or family members that literally any age or gender could enjoy. Right now Wii U doesnt have many games that emphasise on that style of gamplay but this holiday and beyond it will significantly increase.
Wii Party U-this minigame collection releases in Oct and comes bundled with a WiiMotion Plus for $50, thats a game and controller for less than the competitors games/controllers cost seperately.
Wii Fit U-this launches in November and if u download the app u get 1 month of the game for free. Also if u already own the Balance Board then all u need to do is purchase the Fit Meter for $20. If not then it costs $90 for Wii Fit U+Fit Meter+Balance Board.
Wii Sports Club-basically a rerelease of the original but this time it has HD graphics, online and is digital. For $1.99 u can purchase a 24 hour pass or buy each sport for $10. Only 2 of the 5 sports will be available initially on launch in Nov.
There are also games like Mario 3D World and DKC Tropical Freeze that allow 4 player co-op for the first time and the new Mario & Sonic Olympics game releasing this holiday. Next year also has Mario Kart 8 and Smash Bros U that are a blast to play with a couple of close family members or friends. Also the already released Nintendo Land and NSMBU heavily emphasise on this gameplay.
So what do u guys think, can these 10 games listed bring back the casual audience or have they permanently moved on?
