I'll take a "corridor simulator" over the "open-world" mess that was the World of Ruin in FFVI anyday.

Yes, I'm saying that XIII is better than VI. MUCH BETTER. XIII is easily on the top 3, while VI barely gets a top 8.

Yes, I'm reusing the gif. It's just perfect for the situation.

Whatever. FFIX shits on all that.

We finally agree on something. FFIX is indeed the best one.

I don't know if it is nostalgia or what, but I really can't find anything bad in FFIX. The graphics are WAY better than FFVII and FFVIII, the music is awesome, the battle system works well, the story is wonderful.

Except FFXIII had more annoying characters and a totally watered down battle system.

FF X has annoying characters.  Aside from Lulu, I don't think any of the cast are any good to be honest.

And besides, that's not the point.  You were having a go at him for liking XIII as a corridor simulator.  You should be having a go at X for this.  That was the game which started Final Fantasy in the direction it ended up in with XIII.

I do understand why people like X better.  It has a more stereotypical JRPG story with more stereotypical characters than XIII.  By the time I got around to playing X, I found the story tiring and uninspired.  But if you were playing it fresh, you'd probably enjoy it more.  Still has nothing to do with the design of the game, though, which is shockingly similar between X and XIII.

I feel exactly the same.

Welcome to the Final Fantasy XIII defense force. Remind me to introduce you to Boutros, Darthdevidem and er...yeah.

I am not a fan of FFX. FFXIII just took  FFX's flaws and made them 100 times bigger.

Well, I suppose someone has to defend the game. We restore the balance to the fanbase. Or we at least try.

I assure you it's not nostalgia. I've beaten the game without any nostalgia attached to it, and loved every bit of it. For a 32-bit game, the animations are incredibly fluid, and the game is so goddamn charming. The story, while simple, is excellent.

I just kinda stopped defending it, but yeah FF13 is great. Still glad I played it.

Final Fantasy VIII.

FFXIII was close, but it still had SOME redeeming value.

FFXIII at least had a very few interesting story points and a sympathetic character or two. FFVIII, on the other hand, was a boring, meandering slog.

FFXIII had a design that, while cynically manipulative and largely superficial, was at least cohesive. FFVIII was so unintuitive that one of the best strategies is to actually avoid as much gameplay as possible.

I may actually play FFXIII again of my own volition.  I have no interest at all in replaying FFVIII.

It's not listed, but Final Fantasy III. Didn't like anything about it.

That's easily the worst part of the game. Regular battles just seem like a complete waste of time, they're gonna help you, on the contrary. But if you avoid them, you're just... walking, waiting for the next boss. And I'm fine with the Junction system itself, bu the Draw thing is complete bullshit.
