You can exploit the leveling system in FF2 by attacking your own characters. I still think FF8 is the worst, drawing magic is just stupid and it also sucks that leveling up doesn't really give you a clear advantage.

I played 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 , 10, and a few spin offs... my least favorite is actually Tactics Advanced... though it's not a bad game.
artur-fernand said: FFII and VIII are the only ones I find "bad". They're just outright broken. In FFII, the system is a major pain in the ass and requires grinding and guest characters will always be underleveled. VIII just allows you to break the entire game with little to no effort. It's the only case where leveling up does not help you =P
Sure, sure. I CLEARLY remember that when FFXII came out, people HATED the game. "Worst FF ever", "Killed the series" and stuff. XIII won't become "amazing", but it's gonna be considered a "decent/good" game, while FFXV will be "awful". Just wait.
And by the way, here's a hint to the newcomers: the whole FF series as a whole can be very polarizing. I find VI to be massively overrated for example. Just because everyone hates II, VIII ou XIII, doesn't mean you should not play the games. Play them, you never know. Although I really don't see anyone liking FFII nowadays, it's very dated...
And to the haters: stop stating XIII is ARGUABLY bad. You despise the game based on design choices, that others might not care or even - gasp - like. In fact, objectively and technically speaking, FFXIII is actually a good game. All the rest is opinion. Just had to get that off my chest. |
Yeah... it's horrible, and anyone that argues otherwise should stop...

The only people I think are guaranteed to hate it are (2D-ONLY Final Fantasy gamers) those guys are damn stubborn! |
You have a good point, but the Final Fantasy fanbase in general doesn't work with such things as "logic". I'm totally expecting FFXV to be hated, and XIII to be revisioned as, at least, "not that bad". Yes, I admit I'm sounding a little fanboy-ish and stuff, but honestly, the whole fanbase is damn stubborn. I mean, FFXII had a pretty reliable team, and look at the overrall reaction.
I think the big difference here is I played through and enjoyed all the FFs up through 12 and still couldn't make it through 13. It wasn't a bad final fantasy, it was a bad game. I can overlook flaws in gameplay and story as long as it's involving to some extent, there was nothing compelling about 13 in character, gameplay or story.

Not including games like FF Mystic Quest or spin-offs, without a doubt FF13, followed by its sequels. Unfortunately I don't feel FF15 will save the series.

I never said it's highly praised. But it was despised when it was released, and now it's seen, in general, as a decent/good game.

The pool begs to differ. The most hated choice besides FFXIII/ FXIII-2 and FFII which is why "Other answer" has that many votes.
