Forums - Gaming - Driveclub: Amazing new footage

No no no. This doesn't fit the narrative that PS4 has a bad launch line up and that Driveclub is a weak racer which impresses no one.

Surely this is Forza 5 footage that someone has posted as Driveclub for the lulz.

Looks leagues better than it looked a few months back, but if it's still only 30fps that's a deal breaker for me. Then again we're all getting the PS+ edition.

I'm getting PSN+ so it doesnt really give me a massive reason to buy it, but more and more its slowly appearing on the next group of games i would get... so if they keep improving it and providing more information whats in the game, I may be persuaded.

Holy SHIT! I have Project CARS, and know what it can look like, but this just caught me off guard! O_O

wait the game released?

I'm in the Beta, sorry.

Be sorry your privileged prick /sarcasm.

And about forza x gt war... forza fans will never accept that they may launch 3 or 4 games between each GT and even when you sum all of them they don't get close to GT, and we GT fan will never accept the bogus review that take more points from GT because it is a well seasoned veteran and give points to Forza for things that should be there from the begining.

Am I allowed to say that this is the best looking Racing game ever made ? It will be so fun to see both this and Forza5 clashing in this holiday.

Definitely not me. I'll be getting the full version. If there's ever a complete option, that's what I choose.

There is a complete option. You can either buy the Blu-ray version or upgrade to the full version through PS+ for a slightly reduced price. Not only that but once you've upgraded to the full edition through PS+, you no longer require PS+ to play it, so it effectively becomes a FTP game outside of the PS+ paywall. That might seem odd because you'll need PS+ to get that discount, but it's not when you consider you'd only have to pay a months subscription fee:

The PS5 Exists.

I know the game will be different but again this reminds me of Forza Horizon. Looking forward to try it out when my PS4 arrives.

I've spoken about this with many people on other forums. The difference between current gen and next gen games is going to be more subtle and likely things you'll never be able to appreciate by watching a video or looking at photos. You CAN see it if you look for it but the average Joe will never notice the difference. In Driveclub for instance, you have real time shadows, real time reflections, real time lighting and fully realised polygonal scenery. This is what allows them to offer true night/day cycles. Watch this closely and you'll start to notice those subtleties. Focus on the inside of the car for instance or the barriers as he turns into the sun. Look at the building as it rotates and you see why everything being polygonal makes a huge difference when real time lighting is used. Pick any spot and concentrate on it and you'll start to see what next gen is:

Now look at a game that doesn't use realtime lighting or fully polygonal scenery. Ignore the vehicle or the location, that will take your eye off what you are looking for. Pay particular attention to the shadows under and in front of the vehicle. There is absolutely no difference between the shadow effects on the buildings or objects either. The light doesn't effect any object in this scene because it's baked in. If you stopped and looked at the cannopy or the trees, no matter what angle you looked at it from, the shadow would look exactly the same. And those trees are 2D by the way.

Here's a still from Driveclub just to make a point about everything being fully polygonal:

What do you want to explain to me? The importance of day/night-cycle because Forza doesn't? I said it looks like Forza Horizon to me, which offered full day/night-cycle on 360.  I don't get the purpose of your post. Both Forza and DriveClub are next-gen because they are not able on current-gen-systems. And what is full polygonal scenery? Are there bitmaps on Forza? :)
