he should be forced to send his receipt for the game. then the retailer can get punished instead of consumer.

If he has no receipt then banning console makes sense as only assumption is that its an illegal copy.

If it is a legit copy then he should not be banned. No consumer should be punished for purchasing a copy from a store breaking a street date.

However, for all we know this could be a pirated copy and the ban is 100% warranted.

In the perfect world id agree with that. But do you save your reciepts? I dont. I have a couple for a watch and an ac but those were both 150+ dollars

Abosolutely. Common sense didicated the game isn't out yet. Either they pirated it or broke street date. MS won't ban beta/reviewers.

In the original article it says they will take it down "no matter how the copy was obtained" this would also include a store that broke street date. Also, if you look at the person I quoted he was the one that said "don't break street dates"

The consumers beef should be with the store that broke the street date. Perhaps they should let MS know what store did it.

My guess is the vast majority are getting it illegally.

If they are getting it illegally then I have no problem with action against them. But like I said above R* said no matter how they get it which makes me think they are directing that at people who got it legit. As for them telling MS which store, I agree. The store should be getting in trouble not the person who bought it. The person can also call a 800 number to report it too.
