To be fair, many thought this would be the gen that 60fps and 1080p would be common. Its disappointing to see that isn't the case.

I'd even settle with 720p to have 60fps.

This is a developer choice. It has nothing to do with gen, as in hardware. In any (recent?) generation so far and for at least the next one, there'll always bee better looking games at 30FPS than at 60FPS. It's a choice.

But, since initially KZSF was supposed to be 30FPS, maybe they are listening to the requests for 60FPS since they are trying to do this. So maybe this gen will become the 60FPS gen.

I would prefer it to be realistic facial animation gen. Seriously, 60 fps is nice. But I would prefer devs to use their ressource on something else.

Edit : this is 1080p 60fps -> http://www.fimfiction-static.net/images/story_images/92970.png?1364253348

Edit2 : Legasista was 1080p 60fps. No one cared.

I think for a launch title with the visual splendor of KZ:SF to achieve 60fps at 1080p even just for the multiplayer, is impressive.

If you read some of the notes in the technical presentations Guerilla Games has given, they are far, far away from properly optimizing and refining their engine. They have already identified areas they can improve visual effects, but simply don't have the time to rework things for launch. I have no doubts if they want to target it, their next game will not only look better, but run smoother as well.

I think there might be a misunderstanding here. I personally believe he is talking about multiplayer. It would be very impressive with far above 30fps for single player with those graphics we have seen.

... nextgen... where devs have to 'aim' for 60fps.. alright!

Huh? They've already achieved 60FPS in MP, but are now targeting 60 for SP.

We'll have to wait and see if they'll actually achieve that in SP. Simply based on what we're hearing, I'm not anticipating it.

And what are we hearing?

Can't wait for this 60 fps madness to go away. Overrated, overhyped, over-everything. Is it noticeable? sure. Is it cool to have? Yup. Is it important? NO.

You are very wrong, play older games on your pc and compare them to their console counterparts, you'll see when a game "runs better" it's actually better to have than fancy graphics and effects.

DmC Devil may cry for example was really a step down from previous games because it was 30 fps on consoles and didn't feel fast paced enough to be a proper devil may cry, on pc it ran very very smooth, the developers focused too much on making the game look realistic while making it run like crap.

This is something very common with western developers vs eastern developers, the west makes their games gritty and realistic which makes them more tailored to PC, but Japanese developers for example care more about making the game run more smoothly, do you think Mario or sonic or even kingdom hearts or final fantasy games would be fun if the games in slower frame rates?

Compare the godawful frames rates of a mass effect/Dragon age game to a final fantasy/kingdom. Hearts game you'll see which is better on consoles.

isn't even the KH HD collection 30fps?  I thought in the GT review they made a note of that

After watching the trailer/gameplay in 1080p, to be honest I was majorly underwhelmed. IMO, it looked meh. The animations were awful and stiff, the character models looked off, the smoke and fire effects just appeared and disappeared from spots without any smooth effect or transition. Definitely wasn't dynamic smoke/fire. Colors and graphics seemed washed out at spots.

This is killzone, a game with a devoted but small fanbase compared to others. IMO, to those calling it the best looking next gen game must be seeing something different than me. Heck I thought KZ3 looked better than this... (and yes I've played both KZ2&3)

common... we can argue if it is more impressive to have a game like battlefield 4 with big maps, boats driving between waves, helicopters and so on and all at the same time to get epic battles and still achieving good graphics or killzone with smaller maps (at least for multiplayer) and less players which gives the developer more ressources for the look of every single stone or flower to develop a really good looking game but you can't be serious to think that killzone 3 running on ps3 looks better as shadowfall!

there is no current gen shooter which looks as good as killzone shadowfall or battlefield 4 from a technical perspective.

I don't even think they're ever going to reach that goal of 60fps since all they're gonna do is make the same mistake they've always been doing. By that I mean, is pushing the console to it's limits that there isn't enough oomph left in the hardware to run the software smoothly.

Now that they got new hardware they're going to forget about framerates and focus more on graphics as usual.

I hope they lock the framerate. I don't like jumpy fps, it's the devil.
