I find it odd that Sega would want to bring this to the west yet won't bring Yakuza 5 to the west.  Well lets hope Sega changes their mind about Yakuza 5 then.

I kind of don't. Yakuza 3 came out earlier in the PS3's life and actually did okay in the west. The hope may be to do the same thing with Ishin as an early PS4 release. Plus since it isn't a numbered entry, it is more inviting to newcomers than jumping into Yakuza 4, 5, 6... without having played the other games.

But yeah, I really hope that the PR person didn't know what he was talking about and Yakuza 5 is still on the table. Or that Sony's new in house localization team will at least consider taking on Yakuza 5 themselves. Because if we don't get 5, the hope of any future mainline games coming over is pretty grim.

Don´t count on it unless Sony is behind it in some way (which I would absolutely appreciate, come on, oull a Dragon Quest/Bravely Default!)

they should form a localization studio in their new Asian studio just like they did a "third party relations studio" for Indie Developers (the one that Shahid Ahmad runs)

who's this verendus guy?

Kaz Hirai Some Sony insider who posts at GAF.

I wish sony would stop chucking money at every indie dev, and use some off it, to localize games

If Sega localizes this then I am getting a PS4 in a heartbeat. (not like I wasn't planning to but it would be sooner. lol!)

But still no Y5 :((

According to Verendus on GAF, it will be coming West.

And.. with that. Sega redeems itself.

Yeah I'm still a little miffed at that. But then again the Yakuza series was aways pretty niche in the west and it doesn't help that the spin off game tanked like it did. Saying that, this might actually get people more interested in the franchise.. something new and different might gather more interests than a long running mainline series. Plus, samurai's in feudal Japan.

Thats what i'm worried about.   And I completely agree and understand what you mean when Ishin can be more inviting to new comers.

I just know that some Japanese devs find it hard to bring games that are very cultural oriented to the west which wasn't that one of the reason why Kenzan never it to the west? ...yet Dead Souls did (since americans love zombies?).  Which was why I thought this was odd.

But I hope Ishin suceeds so we can get the rest of the series over to the west. (and maybe Capcom can make a new Onimusha game as the cultural difference was their reason why they stop making it)

I guess because this is a game for Sony's system?

Hopefully only in europe

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”
