Gaming wise I really don´t see any reason. Why buy a PSV that isn´t portable? Wasn´t the purpose of the PSV to play console like games on the go? And recently to use it as an offscreen accessory for PS4? Since most are multiplats that are also available on PS3 why would anyone buy an inferior version instead? Also PS1 games are also available on PS3s PSN and PS3 has the far more PS2 HD collections. The biggest problem to me is that it basically just is a handheld mutated to a console that still has the huge problem of overpriced memcards if you take them into account you could just buy a PS3 with a decent harddrive instead.

The biggest thing for me is if I get a PS4. I often buy multiple consoles to play in different rooms of the house. With that doohickey, I could play my PS4 in the game room and the living room! Not a bad deal from where I sit. I already have a Vita so I wouldn't really use it for that. I like my Vita games on the handheld.

I think there are cheaper ways to achieve that. But that´s another matter, I´m more talking from the perspective of software library and for it´s own merits as a gaming system. PSTVVita is basically just another console, that is basically PS3 with worse graphics+library and with huge problems in the storage department, those memcards are insanely expensive and have a really low capacity. Even the newly announced 64GB memcard isn´t exactly alot and you have to basically shell out the same amount of money as PSTVVita (10.000yen).
