6 years is what I think is enough. XboxOne and ps4 Should have been released 2012 at the same time as Wii U.

I wish it was 6 years.
For home consoles, 6-7, for handhelds next cycle starts when Nintendo says it does and I'm generally fine with that because I haven't ever been discouraged by their handheld output and it's not like super graphics matter much on a handheld anyway.
Wish the DS gen would've gone longer so the 3DS could've been built a bit better at a lower price.
I don't really have a problem with outdated hardware as long as the games are good. GC and SNES still hold up very well and are extremely enjoyable.

as long as the devs. can give me new and fresh experiences, I won't complain.
Longer; I still have a ton of backlogs! Even when I get my PS4 I'll still be playing my PS3 for years to come.

7 years is my limit, 6 is pushing it already. I like to get new consoles every 5 years but don't mind companys waiting longer if people aren't ready somehow. Needless to say I've been waiting for the XBox One for a damn long time.
It's just that simple.
About 7 years is good for me.
this gen will be the longest yet, games are more expensive to make and companies will need to keep pumping sequels to make as much money they can from their ips
