I don't really follow game sales or forecast them at all, so maybe people who are more experienced can give me their opinions.

Is Splinter Cell: Blacklist doing poorly right now in terms of sales?

For example, Splinter Cell: Conviction had the following sales on the 360.

Global First Ten Weeks (Units)

Week EndingWeekWeeklyChangeTotal
17th April 2010 1 549,319 N/A 549,319
24th April 2010 2 191,419 -65.2% 740,738
01st May 2010 3 140,811 -26.4% 881,549
08th May 2010 4 83,079 -41.0% 964,628
15th May 2010 5 46,866 -43.6% 1,011,494
22nd May 2010 6 31,872 -32.0% 1,043,366
29th May 2010 7 33,405 4.8% 1,076,771
05th June 2010 8 33,837 1.3% 1,110,608
12th June 2010 9 23,060 -31.8% 1,133,668
19th June 2010 10 18,335 -20.5% 1,152,003

While these are the sales for Blacklist

360:

Global First Ten Weeks (Units)

Week EndingWeekWeeklyChangeTotal
24th August 2013 1 162,122 N/A 162,122

PS3:

Global First Ten Weeks (Units)

Week EndingWeekWeeklyChangeTotal
24th August 2013 1 257,866 N/A 257,866

I mean, combined these don't even meet the levels of its predecessor on the consoles. I might be naive, but I expect that the MAXIMUM the game will sell on consoles will be the amount that Conviction sold, and that's an best case scenario.

And then you bring in the fact that GTA V's coming out shortly and Xbox One and PS4 will launch (with all their launch games). On a purely marketing/awareness level, I think that Blacklist is just going to be completely swamped by these goliaths.

What do go you guys think?

You forgot to add WiiU and PC version. It doesn't help much though.

Yes, it must be a big disappointment for Ubisoft, even though they have shown in interviews that they are very aware that this gen has gone on too far and that we need a new gen ASAP to generate interest and increased sales.

There's been zero hype and is almost no awareness that a new Splinter Cell is coming out. Even I missed it. But the same can be said or many other games. Like, there's a thread here right now asking about Beyond and its sales potential and rightully so.

2013 is a very difficult year for all games that are not natural blockblusters. So many who have underperformed already. This holiday season will be even more horrible for current gen games, except for GTA5.

how much did it sell on wii u? if it was close to 100k then it did the same as the predecessor

It's hard to tell without PSN,XBLA and steam numbers.

I think they deserve it. This is what happens when you completely demolish a loyal fanbase and greedily try to get everyone. You have no focus, no heart, no soul. It becomes just a generic background noise that no one becomes hyped about.

I'm sorry to say, but I find this slightly gratifying after the initial Uncharted of Duty looking reveal and then Jade Raymond running her mouth about how terrible stealth games are because they're so darned hard.

Absolutely, I agree. I am happy these games who pathetically try to cater to the COD crowd (as in this particular case) all seem to be failing.

There have been a reasonable number of TV adverts in the UK, they don't really appear to be advertising a very stealthy game though
