Ok this is alittle funny incident that just happened to me 10 mins ago when i called my local Gamestop. So you guys know that Nintendo is offering a limited edition of LOZ: Wind Waker HD that comes with a figure of Ganondorf inside but the catch is it goes from $49.99 to $59.99 (even though Nintendo listed the price at $44.99.... yep Gamestop is at it again) and is only available through Gamestop. So i call my local Gamestop to ask about it, everything is going good but as the conversation goes on he asks for my number so he can look up my account then he does the unthinkable...

[Him] "Whats the name of the game?" [Me] "Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD [Him] " For which system did you want to preorder this on?"  [Me] "Its a Zelda game brother" [Him] "Yeah you said that and for which console did you want it on? Playstation, Xbox or Nintendo? (yes he said Nintendo not Wii U) [Me] "..........Hangs up" LOL

I found this very odd yet funny at the same time, its amazing that your job is to sell games and have a basic knowledge of them as well yet you ask me if i wanna preorder a LOZ game for the Xbox One or PS4.

On end note i will be going down there to preorder it in person when i go to check out their B2G1F offer in a few mins :D

Yeah they don't really seem to know much. I went in last weekend to pre-order Killzone Shadow Fall and the guy goes "And what system will that be for?"

Uhhhhhhhh.....

I had a similar instance when I went to gamestop to get Pokemon White at launch, the lady asked me what system it was for and I almost laughed. I said "the only system it's on.... the Nintendo DS" and she got mad at me.

I think they might get a little confused since there are 2 zelda games coming out at the same time because when I went to pre-order my copy of the collectors edition he asked if it was for 3ds or Wii U. That was completely understandable to me since the guy didn't know which game had the collectors edition. If the employee has no idea what Zelda even is, then they have barely any knowledge of videogames.

Ignorance and lack of knowlegde is the case everywhere. Whenever I go to the local Sony Centre I have the most knowlegde about anything Playstation, not even mentioning some deep, secret, obscure knowlegde, I mean basics about their newest product launching this holiday, they know shit about anything regarding it.
I probably know more than the staff about other product lines as well...

My local gamestop employes obviously play games since we talk about games all the time when I come pick up a new game since it's usualy not to crowded.

But one similar incident happened when I pre-ordered Skyward Sword. The employe asked ''What console...'' and then he corrected himself mid-sentence and said ''oh that's right, it's Zelda so obviously Wii, sorry about that it's a habit''. So no harmed done :)

Generally, the Gamestop staff at the one near me knows quite a lot about gaming. Not as much as me, but they're pretty knowledgeable.
