Forums - Nintendo - If Rayman legends would have stayed a Wii U exclusive, would it have helped the Wii U as much as Pikmin 3 did?

I think it would have helped as much if not more, Rayman Origins sold more copies than Pikmin 2 so it has more fans.  But you also have to look at if the game is a system seller and the review scores are really high so I think it could have been.

Marginally but it wouldnt be a big system seller.  Even though it in my opinion is much better than Mario and pretty much every other side scrolling retail platformer it doesnt have the popularity to really push consoles at a high rate.  Legends would doubtfully change that much.

If Rayman Legends had launched exclusively on Wii in the launch window, along with Pikmin 3, the Wii U would be in a very different place right now.

Probably more, i think. Rayman is casual focused, while Pikmin 3 is a bit too confusing for the average consumer.

And Rayman could have sold a hell of a lot, during the dry release months in spring.

I don't think it would have had that much of an effect. It's just not that popular no matter how great it is. I think it's way better than Mario. But, at the same time it is more popular than Pikmin if you count all platforms. But, I still don't think it would have helped more than Pikmin.

Yes! Totally. Too few exclusives, and too many old ports that most had already played. Despite how good they were on the wii U. Zombie U was not enough. Would have had larger sales as well. Pikmin 3 would probably be near 1 million and Wonderful 101 would be near 300,000 or more.

I meant Rayman Legends, not W101, brain fart... XD

But yeah, add that too. It may not have sold a lot individually but it would help kill the "has no games" perception.

Doubtful, Rayman isn't that big of a franchise.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

Would have sold a little better if it stayed exclusive but then ubi would have made a whole lot less money, but it would have sold better had it been launched when it was complete rather than delayed too.
While being released on other platforms does take away from the sales a bit for one specific platform it also means more people who do not have the financial backing to pick up a console they may not currently own to play it.

Diversity is a good thing.

The metacritic comment just isn't needed, its the same game, its only 1 point higher, pointing that out is as pointless as pointing out that the ps3 versions one point higher than the wiki version too, it means nothing essentially.

Origins is my favorite 2D game ever actually.  Keep in mind I don't have the nostalgia for SNES and NES games that many do because I started gaming in 98

If was exclusive, it wouldnt be late, so it would be launched in feburary, and it could push much more than pikmin 3, but also push as much as or more than zumbi U: game planned to use the exclusive feature, the gamepad, it was a novelty, so it would have the same appeal from zumbi U, so this time for a more casual public.
Now, the novelty factor has gone, and it have to compete with many first party games...so, it wont push so much... but it could if release at right timing.
