Sony needs to release some new titles,
they dont need AAA titles as everyone has been saying for the past 2 years,
It has them. Uncharted, God of War, Call of Duty and the sales are still not there.

People dont want to play just a slightly different version of their home console games on the go, they want a different experience.
It would be like eating toast for breakfast, and then while you're out and about you only get to eat toast.
People get bored of the same thing over and over again.

They need a new and compelling IP, which is not just an action adventure FPS, they need something new.

Please, don't talk about something you have no idea about. Buy a Vita before you start talking about it. It needs AAA games to push hardware, if you want other cool portable experiences - there are many already here and more coming, just look at Murasaki Baby. It's a gorgeous portable experience impossible on a home console. What do you think, will it move hardware better than a GTA Vita would? Exactly. Look at the list of best selling PSP games, look at the 3DS games - all the best selling games are regular home console experiences. The "different experience" is a myth. We just want good games and there is no division between home and portable experiences.

When it comes to battery life I think it's ok. Wouldn't mind if it was better, but you can say that about every single portable device. I have never had problems with my Vita dying on me.

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

I don't want the big, home console-style titles, unless they are exclusive to the system. If they are also available on a home console, I would rather play them on my big TV with a real controller.

As someone pointed out above, it can't really be much smaller and still be comfortable, but at the same time I stopped playing my PSP because it was simply too big, so I just would not bring it anywhere, and the Vita is larger. Maybe a PSP Go or GBA SP variant is the route to go.

I also think going with such a similar look of the system to the PSP is confusing to the mass market (see Wii/Wii U).

To all those saying get rid of rear touch, I guess you haven't seen Tearaway or tried games like Machinarium.

Only real things that would improve the Vita are onboard memory and a longer battery life.

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

the main reason the Vita is doing horribly at the moment is because it doesn't have a lot of small/big games, unlike it's competitor, the 3DS.

but besides that, i think a really big issue with the Vita is the hardware itself.

like, the system itself was expensive before the Gamescom price cut, but still, it's more expensive than it's competitor, and those memory cards make things worse.

so here's my take on that hardware issue. the Vita needs a re-design that fixes this and more issues, at the top of my head, these are things than need to be added in a re-design:

1.support SD/Micro SD Cards. this is one of my biggest gripes with the Vita, those memory cards are terribly expensive, even after the price cut. i honestly don't know why Sony didn't just do this from the beginning, SD Cards are so damn cheap!

2.ATLEAST 2 GBs of INTERNAL memory, would it kill Sony to do this? adding atleast 2 GBs of memory alone would solve a lot of the complaints against this system.

3.PHYSICAL analog triggers, the back touchpad , IMO, is a horrible idea. i mean seriously, for games that would need analog triggers you need to change the way you're holding it which makes holding it pretty damn uncomfortable, and they can't put digital triggers now, some currently released games would not work correctly.

that's what i can think of for now, what do you guys think, does it need a re-design, and if so, what other changes do you want?

1. Bad idea in my opinion. Not only would it open up the possibilty of pirating, but it would remove a huge revenue stream for sony. The better solution would be to up the internal memory to 12GB ( flash memory is cheap, this'll cost them like $10)and keep their propriety memory cards for people who want to upgrade.

3. I agree they need R2/L2 triggers, don't understand the point about analog vs digital. Why would current games not work with digital triggers?

It's too late now as it's required.

I still think it's poor design personally. It makes holding it a lot harder.

SD/microSD is out of the question.

R2-3/L2-3... I can see them releasing a special edition with these buttons to make the console more compatible with PS4 and remote play, but only if this actually picks up. I guess I would actually buy that console, cause I don't like using the rear pad as buttons. It would obviously be better if the triggers were analog, I mean - why not? But all in all I wouldn't bet on it. It won't make the console better as an independent platform, only as a remote play device, which would be nice, but don't know if it's worth it.
