I'm going to say no, though I can see the PS4 possibly beating the XB1 in NA for this gen, I believe that MS will throw everything and the kitchen sink to make the XB1 competitive in the NA. thus thinking MS will take a year of two in total consoles sold within a year

Microsoft needs a head start to beat Sony in America. They gain customers though marketing and manipulating perception, not reality. Third parties and price are major factors as well which they dont have on their side this gen. Watch what happens this gen when they are head to head to see what I mean. They are the official console of the NFL? Why? The most popular FPS is accounted for with DLC and marketing and the most anticipated game this gen, period is paid for with exclusivity that is more than likely timed.

Oh easily. North America may still go to Microsoft but their inability to sell in Japan is going to give the lead to Sony. Microsoft will never have a first place console because of Japan. Now that Nintendo blew their one year lead with the WiiU, Sony should easily take the crown.

This seems the most likely. Once the price difference is gone the X180 will start to gain ground. WW sales I think could easily go to PS4 though. MS does not seem to have a good WW strategy still.

I get that, but the fact that the most popular genre in NA has an established and loyal X360 fanbase will definitely give the XB1 a food chance. It's definitely going to be a much closer race this time around.

Throwing money isn't the same as a winning strategy. See every gen Sony has had and how they eventually caught up to Microsoft after their worst gen ever (Something Microsoft has never done to them).
