My personal opinion on the matter--you could train a chimp to do their job. Meanwhile, there are SCHOOL TEACHERS, COPS, SOLDIERS, ETC that don't make $15 an hour. So, no. Fast food workers don't deserve $15 for a job that can be handled by high school children.

I don't know where your from
, but here in Canada, school teachers, cops, soldiers... They get paid pretty handsomely and they get great benefits.

Minimum wage is not enough to live off of today.

Fast food workers, retail workers.  There are some people working these shitty jobs (somebody has to do them) and yes, I believe they deserve more for what they do.  Some are very hard workers.

For some people, it is the only option they have.
Getting an education is expensive as hell.

Georgia--where cops and teachers don't get paid crap.  Trust me on this.  Now, I'm sure the cost of living is lower than most bigger cities so everything's relative, I guess.  Maybe a New York cop or teacher has it a little better.  Around here, every cop has to work a second job.

I dunno, teachers seem to get paid Ok on average according to NEA.

52K Average salary.

http://www.teacherportal.com/teacher-salaries-by-state/

NEA numbers... and that's Salary, not total compensation which includes healthcare, pension and all the other benefits.

That's the thing with averages, I guess.  Some make below average.  Others make above.  That's why I said "There are teachers, cops, soldiers, etc."  because there are those that don't make $15.  Trust me, I know.  I didn't say all of them!

Stupid. Very stupid. Your labor is unskilled. You don't deserve much money for it. Anybody can do it.

Anybody could be a body guard, anybody could be a police officer, anybody could be in customer support for a company, anyone could be anything with the right amount of training, doesn't mean they're good at it.

And that's the thing. I literally run a fast food restaurant, do you honestly think anyone could do that well enough to keep their job? Trust me, you wouldn't be able to do it, you're so out of touch with reality it's funny. I just explained that in order to work at my job you have to know over 30+ recipes just to actually work there....yes, I monkey could do everything I do at my job.

I apologize that everyone isn't spoiled like you and actually have to work these slave jobs for a living.

It's a good thing, these fast food companies make huge profits, it's time for it to reach the workers. What do shareholders and bosses do exactly to deserve what they get?

it wouldn't matter if all the good manufacturing and service jobs had stayed in the country.

Own and run a company where a product is in high demand and labor is in low demand.

Low skill wages are paid low for a reason, lets take a simplistic abstract example.

Say you've got two companies of 3 workers each.

They each send out mass emails via button press.

One is the owner, who has put up the money for the company,  One is the manager and a third is a guy who presses a button.

One company is far more successful then the other because the owner put up more money, and the Manager got better deals per click.

The guys pressing the buttons are doing the exact same thing, just as well as each other.

Why would the guy who pushes buttons for the richer company be paid significantly more.  Espeically when there are 8 guys out there willing to push buttons for the same price?

Say the successful company gets bigger, they add a second button pusher.  The manager gets a big raise (rightfully) for expanding buisness so much.  That makes sense right?

The problem with low skill jobs is just that.  They're low skill, so those workers don't really contribute as much to the companies profits as they make even now.

All a raise in wages might change is an increase in automation.  Since a lot of the fast food industry coould be a lot more automized, it just doesn't make sense at the moment wage wise.   I mean heck, your from Europe, you should know more then anybody.

In europe they have Automats and a LOT more "Self order" screens where you place your own order by computer.

All those fat cats talk about trickle down economics like it's something great and yet they keep the wealth for themselves.

unless they are litterally keeping all their money under their mattress, their wealth benefits everyone.

Ask your self, are they putting it in a bank, are they investing it into other business ventures, are they putting it in the stock market. If the answer is yes, then their wealth benefits you.

common sense, i guess isnt too common. unless you really are a parody.

If there money benefits everyone. Why are people plunging into poverty? Why do people have to steal things to live? Why are their homeless and unemployed people? The only place their money goes into is an offshore bank account so they avoid paying there taxes. Wonderful!

And also, why is there so huge inequality if they invest as much as you claim? The 1% obviously only care about money. Why else would they exploit cheap labour in Asia so much?

While this is very long... you didn't actually provide any real arguements.

Why should someone who does the same job, just as well get paid more or less depending on how well other people do their job?

As for Germany... guess what Germany doesn't have.  Minimum Wage.

Germany have very strong unions instead that's why

But with all the right wing bullshit in American media, that would never work as for some reason Unions are demonised in America, most of the time.

If they want more money, they should prepare themselves to get a better job. Is minimum wage for a reason. They dont deserve a penny more thanthey get

You should really have to live in there shoes for a day to see how tough it is for the poor.

All this talk of opportunity and yet for some people they are locked out of all this because they can't afford it. I don't know how the poor can be lazy when it's usually the bosses who work less days overall.

And also, unless you have been living under a rock since 2008, most jobs are either low skill or high skill. How do you suggest people to do better if there are few decent jobs now? especially if they can't afford university? As others said, the middle class is slowly disappearing as the poor get poorer and the rich get richer, that ain't good for a developed society.

because we live in the real world not fantasy island where everything is perfect. and nobody makes poor decisions that impact them financially.

really this posts doesnt even dignify a proper response. its quite hilarous how hyperbolic you are, and how you think you even have the slightest clue what you are talking about. your posts are a joke, and cant be taken seriously by anyone.

you are ridiculous. Unions have incredible clout and power. Most states people are forced against their will to join the union, depending on the job. It just so happens when you let the free market do its job, and give people the choice whether or not to be in the union nearly all the time they choose not to be in the union. Because people making rational choices for themselves dont see the value.

People make poor decisions all right but there are other factors to that, it's not just there own fault. Also, i love how you claim i am deluded just because you don't agree with me. I could of done that but i don't belittle people. Also, I hope it makes you feel better. Saying that, i can't take any word of yours seriously either.

Just admit one thing- the current way of doing things in general doesn't work well.

if you are so sure that i am wrong, prove it. Show me an economy is free and isn't controlled by government or unions and is successful today or was successful at one point. As far as i know the free market is a myth, it is always controlled in some way. Monopolies and slavery in the past, today regulations, subsidies and trade unions.

Also, what's wrong with people working together as a collective? And where i come from, workers aren't forced to join anything.

nothing. nothing is wrong with union. i just dont want people to be forced to be in a union. Given the choice. people generally opt out, because unions are corupt polictical entities that for the past 50 years, had had no incentive to be usefull for the people the supposedly represent.

when you dont have a guaranteed membership base (like the currently do now) they will be forced to improve their "product" or else they will fade into irrelevency.

some goes for businesses, and those dreaded evil corporations. When the freakin government gets involved and either tries to create a market for something, where there just isnt one (read: most green energy/ solar panel companies) or incentivize bad business decisions (like givng risky loans to people who cant afford it or the house), or government just saying screw it, do what ever bad decision you want, make the Volt, etc, if it doesnt pan out for you, we will bail you out.

the free market creates accountability. forces it in fact.
