And yet, it will likely end up selling millions. How unfair the world is, eh?

Way to go to the extremes, but it is ok. It doesn't change everything, but also it isn't the exact 99% identical to the GC version. Those new features you laughed at will make a new walkthrought feel different. Now I have options to make faster, harder or even in the comfy of my bed without a TV.
You have mentioned features of those collections, but I don't see you mentioning any sustantial tweak at those games compared to the originals, like the ones I mentioned, something like the new Triforce quest.
And if you don't consider it a valuable trade, you always have the option to not buying.

Well in that case I don't understand why DKC is $50. Maybe they don't expect the game to sell well? Don't think that's the reason. |
The easiest answer, is that Nintendo needs to increase software sales and in turn, increase the software tie ratio with the Wii U. Right now Wii U has historically low software sales for a home console. Home consoles traditionally have high tie ratios with software compared to handhelds. The GameCube, for example, had a pretty high tie ratio, even though many would have assumed otherwise, because of the low install base.
Basically, any way Nintendo can sell more first-party games along with new sales of the system, they're going to do it, and that includes bundles, like the Wind Waker HD Wii U Deluxe set, as well as charging $49 for certain games instead of $59 in order to sell more copies than normally would be sold. Remember, for Nintendo, the name of the game this holiday season is to exceed sales expectations and meet the $1 billion profit forecast by next April.

The amount of biased trolling is this thread is reaching new heights.

Sony has been doing this for awhile. Sly Cooper, for example, was $40. Even Puppetteer is listed at $40.

Oh please.
Why don't you just not buy the game then instead of yapping about it's supposed high price here. What is the problem? I for one think this game is definitely worth the €$50 they ask for it. Me and every other Zelda fan. I don't feel ripped off in the slightest. In fact, this game alone is worth way more to me than those multiple-game collections you mentioned which are available for €$40. Apparently, the rest of the world thinks so too, when every Nintendo game and especially Zelda, holds their values for decades in the second-hand market and remakes of Nintendo games keep selling millions.
