More likely because it's not releasing for awhile.  Most or all of the games that are ahead of it release this year, while Destiny releases next year, probably holiday.  

They have said Spring. But you are right, having no release date is going to limit pre-orders

We'll see. I predicted they would drop the price and roll back the always online back in June back when everyone was saying they couldn't do either, and they at the very least ended up doing the later.

Short term business aside, if Microsoft doesn't cut the price before launch, it's dead. Really that simple.

For my family and friends getting the XBOX One the price is not a factor at all and not even in the discussions.  If we want the XBOX One or PS4 we just make it happen with little concern for the price difference.

Some people will buy no matter the price, and some people will buy depending on the price. Your family isn't a new trend, this has been the norm for every single console generation ever.

They don't drop prices for people like you, they drop price for the less hardcore majority that buy sometimes on price alone.

Because MS can't control what's going to happen, especially not right now. What's done is done, and one of these machines is $100 cheaper, with much better market perception. Nearly a complete flip-flop of the PS3 vs 360.

I can't believe I would live to see this. People who haven't visited forums like this one since 2007/2008 would be shocked.

How is this even relevant? The same can be said of the PS4, you can buy day one digital (LIke you already can with PS3), and pre-order through playstation.com

Apparently the PS4 pre-order numbers here in the UK are very high also and climbing daily! Can't wait to get mine on launch, getting Assassin's Creed IV and Knack but am contemplating getting Killzone as well as it looks amazing!!

What i find more amazing is that Battlefield 4 on PS4 has more pre-orders than COD ghosts.

PS4 is almost 2 to 1 on Xbox One as well, just in America as well.
