Forums - Nintendo - The Nintendo Third Party Dilemma: How we got here and why (from Gaf)

1. cartridges are more expensive then CDs and development was more expensive on cartridges and it took to much time to develop.

2. 3rd parties abondoned nintendo when they saw their games dont sell on Wii as expected the reason is inferior power when compared to other consoles. the same problem we see with Wii U.

talking about what happened 20 years ago is irrelevant. companies try to make money no matter what the case is.

i just saw the information interesting. it seems objective and isnt a fanboy rant

dont worry im not attacking you or your thread

but this looks to me more like a history lesson rather than a reason.

i know you arent

probably the reason why i found it interesting, there is a lot of stuff that shaped the industry and personally i really enjoy knowing these stories

These are the same hackneyed arguments given a coating of excessive verbosity. There is nothing new here.

Post N64, Nintendo's share of the blame drops precipitously. Now the blame is almost entirely on third parties.

could you explain why the blame is entirely on third parties?

Because the entire post N64 history has been one long move on Nintendo's part to accomodate them, with the third parties constantly shifting the goal posts in response. Move to disc media wasn't enough, cheap, easy-to-develop-for hardware wasn't enough, now easy to port to hardware isn't enough.

Fact of the matter is Nintendo could have made the PS4, just as it is, and still get neglected. Third parties simply don't want to work with them, for their own various, severely petty reasons.

But were they not adding problems while they were making improvements in the process? A step forward and then another back? I'm referring to the Wii and Wii U with respect to power and how they compare to their counterparts in the respective generations. Bethesda seems uninterested in the Wii U largely because of the gulf between it and the other consoles (At least that's my interpretation). But, I suppose one could argue that they would simply work with the LCD and port games from the Wii U to the other consoles, giving every console a version of the game (but I realize that's not an option for them, and it seems for good reason too).

Playstation = The Beast from the East

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS

You think 3rd parties are turning down selling games because they're petty and don't like Nintendo?

I'm thinking of posting a rant from another forum about how 9/11 was an inside job. What say y'all? Yay or nay?
