Forums - Microsoft - LOLtaku: Xbone Won't Launch On Nov 8th (#CBOAT MS Release and Digital Plans in 2nd Post, thanks @arcane_chaos)

Selling back digital copies of games would be awesome. Although, as Zappy pointed out, some games just wouldn't work after awhile. Wanting to sell back a game you bought for $5 would be a little silly depending on how much you get back. Though I can imagine for those people who might buy a digital copy of, say, Dead Rising 3 and then after a month want to resell their license back to Microsoft so they can more easily purchase a copy of Titanfall, it would be great for them. By the way Zappy. That ice cream wasn't bad at all.

Probably November 22 then.

I wonder how 2nd hand digital games would work. Digital copies are identical no matter how many people have owned it, so they don't lose value. Who would go for a new digital game if you can get the exact same game cheaper with no downsides? There must be something to incentivate buying new games.

Then when? they should have announced it at Gamescom, when are they planning on announcing it?

The only certain I have is that the stores will get crazy if both launched in Nov 15th in US.

Seems like MS was planning everything to that day but Sony came and stole the date lol

Why not have them both launch on the same day?

Make their fans fight like on some crazy obstical courses.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

The idea of used digital games is more or less a way for companies to entice people to go completely digital since one of the things many people love about physical copies is that you can get something back from selling them off. It's really a push to eliminate physical copies. If companies like Microsoft can provide people an option to get something back from the games they currently own by giving up their license to the game, it makes it more likely that they will continue to purchase digital and thus drive us faster to a day when companies like Gamestop are out of business or mostly irrelevant with the exception of hardware. The downside is for people who buy used to get cheaper copies of a game. This system doesn't help them. To be honest, the louder complaints regarding DRM that I heard were coming more from people who wanted to be able to sell their games and less from people who just wanted cheaper copies.

Sony were thinking about allowing trading back digital purchases a while ago, don't let that survey be for naught!!

The used digital games thing is only a survey, not a truthfact :(

Nov. 15 launch would be the best thing in the world for me. Stores would be chaotic. I'd just go to watch the fun, then wait for Amazon in the morning.

The customer service software part is interesting to me. The Xbox/360 software they used had agents pretty much on automatic, with scripted answers to pretty much all issues. Almost every problem is listed. They click on it and it leads them from point to point, like a choose-your-own-adventures book. I wonder if they're going to replace that, integrate XO issues into it, or perhaps have a separate program just for XO. They also have simulation software for the interface of each console. The software was called CCF (customer care framework). It was kind of old, so it wouldn't surprise me if they wheeled out something new for the XO launch. For a lot of general questions you had to hit up the Microsoft Knowledge Base.

If it's totally new software, then training is going to be needed. A lot of customer service agents aren't gamers and don't know this stuff intuitively. Also, most issues won't be in the software from Day One, so good luck on getting accurate help if you need it.

Microsoft concentrates a LOT on preventing social engineering. It's really wide-spread with Microsoft accounts. If I remember right, you can get fired if you screw up twice.

CALL FLOW: Greet customers > find the issue > Find customer and Verify (Baseline ALWAYS, Entitlement if CCF asks) > Continue Troubleshooting and READ CCF, it will guide you > Four Point Close

BASELINE VERIFICATION: First and Last Name (required). Then Phone Numbers OR Full Billing Address.
Entitlement = CC# and secret question answer

FOUR POINT CLOSING: 1) Ask if there is anything else you can do "Have I resolved your issue?" 2) Give SR if UA or Escalation 3) Mention Xbox.com 4) Thank them for Calling and say Goodbye.

so if hes right is this good news or bad news?
