I hope if it sells the most that it does it on the merit of its games. Otherwise I will officially start losing faith in the industry.

-500GB instead of 32GB -Blueray Support -10x the gaming performance (Not a random number) -A well established unified Online Network -Countless Social and Cloud features -And finally so many great games I could not list them all in under an hour
The only thing you give up is a tablet controller which can be had with a better experience using the Vita (Even a longer battery life) and Free Online (If you can even count the Wii U as having online games). The Wii U should have always cost as much as the PS360. Until it does it is a joke of a buy... - |
PS4+1game+1year online=$510
Wii U+500gb external HDD+4 games=$510 or if u dont care about HDD u can get a fifth game.
They are both great values and nothing is wrong with either of them. It just depends on what ur preferences are, many households have a blu-ray player or 2 and many people nowadays dont even buy physical movies anymore, instead opting for Netflix or Hulu so for alot of people PS4 having a bluray player doesnt add value.
Also many people have an external HDD or simply dont care about digital content so again for alot of people that doesnt add anything. Alot of people also prefer local multiplayer or prefer single player gaming or simply refuse to pay for online, for those people the PS4s superior online becomes a moot point.
Wii U also has social features like Miiverse and what many people consider to be the best web browser on a console plus off screen play and Nintendo TVii and backwards compatibility with Wii games and accessories are great features so once again it comes down to idividual preference.
That leaves 10x the power and looking at PS2, Wii and literally every Nintendo handheld it seems like power isnt a very big factor. Both have a plethora of great games coming that u cant find on the other.
PS4-Killzone, Witcher 3, Evil Within, Metal Gear Solid 5, Battlefield 4, Infamous, Final Fantasy 15, Kingdom Hearts 3 plus many more i didnt list and yet to be announced
Wii U-3D World, X, Bayonetta 2, SMTxFE, Smash Bros, Mario Kart 8, Tropical Freeze, Sonic Lost World plus many more i didnt list and yet to be announced
Again there is nothing wrong with either of these consoles, it just depends on what games u prefer and what type of features u look for in a console.

The wii-u lineup is worse..... in 2014 when all those big third party games keep coming to ps4 and not wii-u, nintendo will be left behind...........Gamecube was cheaper, how did that do?
| richardhutnik said: I would also add here that Nintendo is with the second screen, the way that Microsoft is with Kinect 2.0. Both MUST be a must-have differentiator, or they don't win. Off chance of exclusive or something else, but the second screen and Kinect 2.0 are the big deal. Nintendo is only $50 less expensive with inferior hardware. |
bolded: that's not true at all since games are what matter.
bolded 2: even before the price cut announcement, it was always $100 less. 299 with no game or 349 with one game. and of course the hardware is inferior, but not that much.

No one bought the basic. I woykdnt be surorised if its discontinued soon. Its is inferior by a lot

In fact, for the last four month worse than Virtual Boy dispite being available in far more regions. |
I said many times that current sales are irrelevant for predictions. if wii u still sells badly after the big games come, then you would have a point. untill then it's a pointless "argument".

?? BS. Wii-u has gotten off too a terrible start, that is important, you can't just brush that aside because you don't like it. We are talking worst then vita bad. It is not irrelevant. All signs also point to continued struggles with x1 and Ps4 just months away.

PS2-style dominance is possible, but it depends more on what Nintendo and Microsoft can do than anything Sony will do. PS2 did what it did because Microsoft was still ironing out the kinks of being a console manufacturer and Nintendo's creative focus was lost at sea. If Nintendo makes GameCube-esque game-design mistakes with Wii U and Microsoft brings any more major screw-ups to the table, Sony can conquer utterly. If both keep their heads level, then they'll give PS4 a run for its money, and possibly outshine it. |
that was when dev costs were low enough that they could profit with exclusives. nowadays that's just not possible and they have to release the games in multiple platforms.
This is such a fanboy thread....yet I agree with pretty much all the points. Sony is doing virtually everything right this time around, and don't seem to be making any fumbles. the only complaints I have about the PS4 are backwards compatibility and the need for PS+ to play games online, and given my personal opinions and what I understand of the hardware, I don't have a problem with either decision.
1 - I think everyone should have PS+ anyway, the deals are just too amazing to pass up and it makes gaming on the PS3 and PSV just so much better, so adding that one caveat seems more like a bid to get more people on board than a 'screw you, pay for online' bid by Sony.
2 - PS3 hardware was an absolute bitch, truly labyrinthine. I don't LIKE that the PS4 isn't backwards compatible, but I understand why it isn't. My bet is that the PS5 when it comes out WILL be backwards compatible to the PS4. I'd be willing to bet on it.
Not trying to 'excuse' sony for their decisions, but I really do think that the positives heavily outweigh the negatives. And even though at this point I'm not convinced the launch lineup on it is going to be too exceptional (Killzone looks great but Knack and Drive Club are wild cards, both new IP's), I've learned my lesson. PS3 had one of the worst launch years of all time and ended up with arguably the most robust library of any console aside from PC, and enough exclusives to compete with Nintendo's legendary stable. They always said it was a marathon, not a sprint, and the last generation proved it. They may not be firing on all cylinders out the gate, but based on history I have no doubt in my mind they'll be far ahead in a couple years.
The controller redesign is apparently boss, no need for batteries or battery packs, most powerful console of the three, better price than the One, cheaper online with better deals, No forced Kinect/motion control, great support of indies.
Yeah, I think Sony has it. I mean, anything can happen, and Microsoft has proven that they are willing to change when the situation calls for it, but right now I definitely think it's PS4's generation to win.
My Console Library:
PS5, Switch, XSX
PS4, PS3, PS2, PS1, WiiU, Wii, GCN, N64 SNES, XBO, 360
3DS, DS, GBA, Vita, PSP, Android

I don't know why no one (Including me) has not said that yet. This pretty much sums up what should be said every time some R-tard says "Well the 3DS soooo... yeah Wii U will do well too!" |
3ds doing great after strugling doesn't mean wii u will be the exact same thing. However it serves as an example to shut up doom and gloom sayers.
anyway, their situation is indeed quite similar.
