Earthbound didn't sell awfully though. Did nearly 500k WW.

absolutely not true, Adventure Time and Regular show air at 8-9pm, immediatly before Adult Swim begins. They are aimed at kids and adults, many of the jokes are directed towards the college age group.

I never imagined W101 would flop this hard. Waiting for the inevitable Kamiya twitter post. He's prolly drunk atm.

Maybe it will do better with the Wii U price cut a few days before. US sales, that is.

Shame on Japan honestly and shame on Nintendo for the way they've marketed this.
I never expected this to be a big hit or anything, but sub 6000 copies is ridiculous for a fanbase that's "starved for games" (or so I'm told).
I can understand MadWorld's issues ... it was a hyper violent game thrown onto a family oriented console with black and white graphics, but Wonderful 101 shares the design aesthetic of a Pixar movie, it should be relatively straight forward to market for a Nintendo audience.
Damnit people you are allowed to buy games on Nintendo platforms that don't have Mario/Link/DK/Pikachu in them. The only message this sends to Nintendo is original IP are a bad risk to take.

Madworld did 720k, that was a Platinum exclusive. There's no way W101 will be a "hit" in terms of budget if it really is more expensive than Bayonetta, though. |
For a Japanese game since they were so far behind in tech last gen that was just above profit level (which nothing to talk about for a console that sold so much, and rather quickly ). That and the Wii base was way larger by the time Madworld came out. What was that like two to three years in? The profit level demands were much lower so they cannot be compared. This game will demand much more profit than Madworld.
Hopefully Europe and US sales fare better, i hope so because this is a belter of a game.

Dont blame the Japanese, we dont want the bloody console so why would we want its games?
Sales are generally bad because nobody keeps the console here long enough to buy more games, unlike fans over in the us sitting on a game-less console for months on end you go a month here without any games and its the last straw, console is being ditched left and right by adults and kids alike, bad enough so that most of the second hand stores i know of here no longer accept wiiu trade ins for hardware because they cant sell them on with any meaningful profit as nobody bites.

considering Madworld sold for under 5 bucks for half its shelf life i dont think it even made a profit, id be surprised if it broke even. it was cheaper to make but to the point where selling for 2 bucks new they made money?doubt it, hell its 50 cents now, shipping cost more.
