The sale is only for two days,,

And remember,,has the eshop too,,

i predict minimum 3 million sold before 2015,,

Whenever a game did outsell the first two days after launch in the following weeks? That's just not happening.

And remember, each other game has eShop too. There is no indication, that it shouldn't have the same percentage of digital sales as other games.

3 million is total out of reach for such a niche game. One million would be an extraordinary success. I think Platinum and Nintendo had hoped for max 500K and lowered this as the sales of the WiiU turned out to be slow.

Then why even fund it then?  The game has a bigger budget than Bayonetta's, yet Sega couldn't make any money off of it (Bayonetta had decent sales to begin with), 500k isn't going to make anyone money, it'd most likely need more than a million for that.  Unless Nintendo planned from the start to loose money?

this is a decent question...but here we are. Like others have said Ninty didnt plan for the console to be selling this bad. Hell maybe Ninty thought this would do better, its not, might just have to chalk it up to a lose

Neither was Pikmin but the only ads I saw for it were on kids nerworks.

Also there are plenty of shows on kids networks that appeal to high school/college students. Shows like Adventure Time, Regular Show, Ninja Turtles are watched by that age group so airing Wonderful 101commercials during those shows could help.

You mean failed adults?

What do u mean by that?

Nobody said Nintendo planned this as a killer app. As was said elsewhere, Nintendo clearly didn't think Wii U would perform poorly, and to them this was just another game.

I hardly doubt it would have been better off multiplat, though. It's just a weird game, however you slice it.

It *might* have done better as a 3DS or Vita game.

I think that you'd admit the game would have done much better as Wii U/PS3/360. They might have been able to pool together 500k before the year's end. It certainly would have sold better in Japan at least.

It's a Nintendo IP, guys. Any talk of anything non-Nintendo is just pointless.

While that makes sense, it makes sense when you realize that its a Platinum Games title and not a Nintendo made one. Think about it that way.

I should have made one of these obvious threads for each Vita game that comes out. Would get a lot of responses as well. They would all go something like this..... "WHat!!!! Are you not amazed that another game is going to flop? I cannot believe that this game did not sell 5 million copies!", " The Vita is most certainly doomed when a little known game that is also a niche title, that is also on a system that is struggling does mediocre."

But sadly, I missed my chance, now that the Price cut is here everything is saved. Maybe the Wii U should get a 100 dollar price cut? Or was the Vita price cut less? Then the Wii U could be savedoomedez!!! ^_^

Seriously though, 300 thousand lifetime and this game will do fine. They should not have expected anything else.
Still, Wii U is starting to get a decent line up of games. Just waiting for about 4-5 big Nintendo games for it to finally take off like the 3DS did. But it will be another 6 months to a year before it gets any lasting momentum I think.

It wasn't that obvious though, at least not to many Nintendo fans.

"I hope this game gets people interested. I just worry that it will be another Pikmin. Not really too big of a system seller, just a hold over for more games."

Lifetime sales: "1. Sonic Lost World - 1.5m

2. Yarn Yoshi - 1.4m
3. X - 1.1m
4. The Wonderful 101 - 0.7m
5. Bayonetta 2 - 0.6m
6. Rayman Legends - 0.08m"

"1. Yoshi's Epic Yarn (1.3m)

2. Sonic Lost World (1.2m)

3. X (monlolith's title) (1.1m)

4. Bayonetta 2 (900k)

5. Wonderful 101 (800k)

6. Rayman Legends (300k)"

Yep, this. Though all should be above 1mil, or close to it, aside from Rayman. "

To be fair, my prediction it would flop doesn't contradict my 800k lifetime prediction. (Which was made before the 30k shipment tipoff, btw)

Platinum's Madworld opened at 4k in Japan but went on to do 720k globally lifetime.

and it took it dropping to $2 bucks for that to happen. Is Ninty willing ot drop the price that much? I doubt it.

Don't underestimate the potential legs of a cult game. W101 may still limp to near 800k worldwide.

I don't think it will; that prediction was before the 30k shipping leak, but it's possible.

Theres a reason why the game is called a "cult game". There are quite a few cult hits in the history of gaming, but Platinum Games titles exclusive to one console have a slim chance without having a huge name behind it.

Madworld did 720k, that was a Platinum exclusive.

There's no way W101 will be a "hit" in terms of budget if  it really is more expensive than Bayonetta, though.
