Also, Retro Studios, Tokyo EAD, The console Zelda Team, Monolith Soft, Sora (and anything Sakurai makes)....so, yeah...MOST of Nintendo's studios, and even though I'm not a big third party gamer or a Sony/Microsoft fan...I've played enough of their titles to know that some of their studios, like many of Nintendo's, just ALWAYS make great games. Considering the title of the thread is, "Is it possible to know if a game will be GOOD....?" I say yes. Based on the track records of certain studios and the direction and consistent quality and polish of certain game franchises, I think it IS possible know a game will be "good." Notice...that doesn't mean it's great, perfect, flawless, best-in-the-series or any of those other completely subjective labels. Of course, "good" in itself is subjective as well...so this whole thread is a moot point because anybody can say ANY game is good automatically, even if they've never played it, and you can't say they're wrong because it's their opinion, not yours. 

It depends on the people working on said game and their history. If past games in a series have been great and the same people are developing the next iteration, then there is a very good chance their next game will be a hit. If it's a new IP, only established developers should be given the benefit of the doubt. Anyone else, I agree. It wouldn't be right to assume their game will be great based on what you said.

For example, MGSV will be superb even though I've only seen some trailers and not much else. Kojima is that godly. (btw apparently he is turning 50 but he still looks like he's in his goddamn thirties. I'm pretty sure he's immortal or something.)

I guess that is true. Although Asian women seem to age rapidly once they hit a certain range.

Getting your thoughts about how good the game will be from the developers is a bit like letting a film director writing all the reviews for his film.
Its a little bit biased, and its in their best interest to sell their product.

There is a difference between saying a game has a high chance of being good and claiming to know for a fact a game will be good. The first one is a completely acceptable statement to make based off of a developers track record but to say a game is impossible to be bad because of who makes it is false. Game developers are humans after all and everybody makes mistakes once in a while................except Kojima
