Agreed. Sony's was a bad conference with some interesting announcements - but mostly uninteresting ones. |
here we go! we finally agreed on something.

This is exactly what happened at gamescom.

and they still think they won.

Just checked the press conference at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJOEtvdHoAw
Love it at 2:52 regarding the indie scene :).
Regarding the topic: yeah not really awesome shows, but I like that bothemphasized games to such a high degree. MS knows Europe is Sony land but I get the feeling they want to change that dramatically.
| Shinobi-san said: I get that MS has more exclusive titles....but apart from Titanfall which looks genuinely fresh and exciting. What games from MS's lineup isn't more of the same??? Which seems to be hes criticism of the Sony lineup. I also happen to agree with him on that. But lets be honest here so is MS's lineup. |
Hmmm. Thats not so for Microsoft side.
Killer Instinct - Microsofts first first party fighter of this calibur.
Ryse - completely out of Microsofts usual exclusive comfort zone.
Project Spark - again completely fresh from Microsoft.
3 non shooters on launchday from Microsoft exclusiive list that have a fair wack of money thrown at them and are varying genres.
Then theres the established genres and games like
Forza 5
Dead Rising 3
Microsofts Launch is not more of the same for Microsoft at all. Its clear they are broadening their scope from their perspective.
Then after launch you also have the very different Quantum Break. Minecraft developers new Indie Game exclusive also.
Plus many others which is out of Miicrosofts comfort zone. Microsoft are really making an effortt on the games front. Fable Legends although a familiar franchise is also going outside the comfort zone. Microsoft need praise hin this area.

Sony is ignoring Japan. That's because Microsoft is concentrating on Europe.

What is that number? OT: You can't win something where you barely had a presence. Sony was the only one announcing something new there. That is objectively how it was, whether you hate indie games or not. |
No, dude, you have me all wrong. I adore Indy games (and movies). I was judging by the consumer reactions.
I think it's great Sony is embracing indies. Just the other day I was showing my buddy 'The Cave' on his PS3. He downloaded the demo, but it took so long we didn't get to play it. He did like the trailer though.
But if you are trying to counteract the innovations of Kinect, the new Xbox One Controller, etc. with games most people can play for free on their PC or download to their mobile/tablet for a few bucks, you are going to have a bad time.

His source is a gamestop guy on here that is very trustworthy. Though I don't think he gives any idea for the number of people switching systems. |
Surely his statement isn't based on BenV....
the-pi-guy said:
Maybe not, but BenV said that people were switching to Xbox One, I don't know if that's where he got it from though. Maybe he got it himself. |
BenV even said it wasn't in large numbers... so if that's where he got his info from, someone likes to dramatically twist others words to favour their own agenda.

Microsofts comfort zone? Couldnt care less about their comfort zone.
Lets talk about the games itself. Which of the games in your post is not more of same?
Forza 5 and Dead Rising 3 are direct sequels...so no need to discuss them.
Killer Instinct is a normal fighter game.More of the same.
Ryse has great graphics but gameplay wise its hack and slash with a heavy dose of QTE's. More of the same.
Project Spark is looking fresh and exciting so yeah I forgot about that one
Quantum break is not a launch title and we really havnt seen how this game actually plays so its a bit unfair to take it into account, since we have no idea what sony will have in their lineup next year.
So project spark and titanfall. So these two titles seem to be the differentiator. But other than that theres really not much in it. Titanfall is also a FPS shooter...so not everybodies cup of tea.
I just feel that the same criticism of "more of the same" applies as well to MS. This isnt necessarily a bad/good thing though. All these games might turn out to be good. All of them might turn out to be shit. You never know. Seems like an unfair comment to me.
MS has the better lineup...but its not because sony has more of the same while MS doesnt.
