And once again Xillia's first week numbers prove this site's pre-orders are off yet again.

It's an interesting case. Good software sales. Not much of a hardware boost.

The hardware boost will happen gradually over time, though. Not all at once just because of Pikmin.

Pretty good for Pikmin. HW increase of about 50% as well is acceptable.

I won't say anything about Xillia or Dragons Crown until NPD though.

What would you say if numbers were true?

Really?  Not sure where expectations were, but to me a JRPG launching over 50K is good, 75 is great and 100K is brillaint.  I would think Namco-Bandai is content with these numbers as well.

With expectations like that it would hard to be disappointed. I definitely want better for the genre.

Pikmin is in line with my expectations, so nothing too surprising with it. Wii U hardware is up to debate if it's reliable or not.
Vita's rise in the states is especially surprsing, I have a hard time believing it sold that much because of something like Dragon's Crown (which had nice sales on PS3 and a bit on Vita).
