Forums - Microsoft Discussion - GT review for Lost Odyssey story 9.6 why did this game flop in japan ?

To elaborate a little more on RPGJock's and Ail's comments, according to vghartz data, as of today LO has sold 94,705 copies in Japan with an installed base of 575,307 360's. That works out to 16.4% attachment. If (and that's a big if) it is able to maintain that rate worldwide it will sell 2,776,635 copies.

Now, I don't really think it will sell that many, but it really sheds new light on all the people calling it a failure already. A PS3 game with that attachment rate would sell 1.6 million copies, and a Wii game would sell almost 3.5 million.

Those are hardly trivial numbers.

1) wrong console.

It's on Xbox 360.

If I were to make a guess, I'd say that most of the Xbox 360 in japan were probably bought by non-japanese citizens who wanted to play Halo - aka, probably a whole lot less interested in JRPGs
