30k x 25-30$ for nintendo = 750k - 900k so only with japan Nintendo will probably make 20mill profit because wii U games are so cheap to make

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.
This game never interested me, to be honest. I do hope it does well or a least breaks even if it is a good game, but it doesn't appeal to me.
Playstation = The Beast from the East

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS

Ouch, talk about not having faith in your own product. W101 even seemed like a Japan-focussed game stylistically.
Nintendo needed to push this one hard, but once again they're dropping the ball. Poor form.
Kamiya must be pissed, he was already unhappy that W101 wasn't getting enough publicity.

Even if being on the Wii U somehow made developement significantly cheaper (seriously doubt it considering we're still looking at the first year with the hardware), Kamiya still maintains the games costed 1.5 times the amount Bayonetta did.
And no, Bayonetta was certainly not cheap considering it barely made a profit on nearly 2 million sold.
Granted, it took a considerable price cut to reach 2 million as well as hardware licensing fees as a 3rd party game that W101 won't have to deal with... But even assuming there was a price cut to $20 in every region right after each's respective first week, we're looking at a minimum of $21 million before digital sales going to Sega that barely covered the cost of things.
If we instead assume the first 10 weeks in all regions were sold at full price (which is more realistic), the new minimum becomes about $26 million before digital.
If we are to assume $26 million barely covered the costs, and W101's costs are 1.5 times as much as Bayonettas... Well, since we don't know exactly how MUCH they profited on Bayonetta when everything was said and done, it's proabably a given they need to sell well over a million full priced W101 to not take a loss assuming Nintendo does indeed get $30 (since they don't have to worry about a platform license fee given it's their platform) after paying off shipping and material costs for every copy sold to retail.
I'm going to go ahead and start pulling numbers out of my ass and assume that the Bayonetta budget was infact $22 million, and the $4 million profit is considered small. If that's the case, W101 would need to hit 1.1 million sold at full price to break even. If it was instead $24 million budget for Bayonetta, then 1.2 million sold at full price would be required for W101, etc etc etc.

wow that's... not a lot. Were preorders that bad?

Does Nintendo basically get like pure profit off their digital releases? Because there's no shipping, packaging, manufacturing/disc cost and no retail mark up either, so that would mean a digital download of any game is $50+ back in their pocket right.
Maybe that's why they're trying to possible channel more sales to digital with this one, cut out the retailer ($10-$15 they pocket per copy) and manufacturing/shipping cost (lets say another $5-7), that definitely ramps up the profit.
I want to support this game in best way possible though, and I think that would be to download it, but I want a physical copy too :(. Maybe I'll download it, and try and see if I can get a physical copy on clearance for like $20 ala Sin & Punishment, but my guess is NOA is not going to ship a lot either.

like every critically accliamed game released in Australia during the n64 and gamecube days haha.
