Halo was by far the reason why i bought the original Xbox but i did enjoy more then just Halo after my purchase of the console such as

SW KOTOR
Fable
Jade Empire
Conker Live and Reloaded
Shenmue 2
Panzer Dragoon Orta
Morrowind

Just to name a few,while it did not have a great selection of overall games it did have its gems that justified a buy for me :D Now wheres my Shenmue 3 and Jade Empire 2...

its only natural, Shenmue 2 went ot the Xbox and so did Jet Set Radio. When I first got my Xbox it was in a double pack and I forgot the second game.

Halo has never been the game that made the Xbox brand appealing to me personally... So lack of Halo would not have affected anything for me

I would never have gotten into nintendo without mario. Infact I'm shocked that you would suggest halo is more important to its console than mario was to nintendo. I never played zelda. Mario was pretty much it for me.

 

Halo on the other hand was not even the reason I got an og xbox. I actually don't like halo at all. The games that got me into xbox were chronicles of riddick and ninja gaiden. I'm an xbox fan and I could care less about halo, only xbox exclusive I really care about is gears.

I'm not saying Halo isn't important for Microsoft, but I honestly don't believe that it is as important as mario on nintendo. Think about. Are there any franchises on nintendo consoles third party or otherwise that have sold more than mario? I doubt it. Now, how many franchises are on xbox that have sold more than halo? I can think of two off the top... GTA and COD. That tells me that Halo is not the game that makes the xbox.

Halo was the main reason I picked up the original Xbox and Halo 3 was the reason I got a 360. Although that being the case I would've still gotten an Xbox 360 at the very least due to Gears of War.
