Sales decrease each time for the main versions (excepted Ruby/Saphire but the console sold less than the other handhelds), I put the Pokemon X/Y sales at 16 million lifetime.

thats good for pokemon! Pokemon Numbers should be between 15mil-20mil for each new gen. The first two gens are one of a kind.

I think this has a lot of hype, but on the other hand, the 3DS has a way smaller user base when compared to the DS. So, uhhh... 20 million?
Since it is life time, which would mean a time period that could extend past when they launch their next handheld, since some places still sell HG/SS. And considering the hype, and how some are billing this the first game in a long time to make them excited for a title, 21 million I guess since this is LT sales, and the 3DS install base isn't going to shrink in that time.
