Forums - Nintendo - Is multiplayer crippling Mario 3D World's level design?

None of us have SEEN enough of 3D World's level designs, literally a tiny percentage/fraction, to sit here and comment on whether or not it's "bad" or being hindered by anything.

Why not wait till the game is in our hands and we can actually see all it has to offer, before condemning it?

Please show me these big barren areas your're telling me about.

That level looked great, but it still pales in comparison to the creativity of the Super Mario Galaxy 2 levels.

I have no doubt that the game will be great, but I just feel that it will fall short of Galaxy's quality, I really hope I'm wrong but it seems unlikely that I am.

curl-6, you are doing quite well so far, but what I want you to do is this: Post a screenshot of Super Mario 3D World, point to an enemy and say that it lacks detail hardcore.

The Goombas on the left lack detail hardcore!

There you have it, folks. The original poster is nuts and should be ignored. Don't feed him any longer.

Aw, come on, you're saying I don't get brownie points for trying to pass off a 3DS game as a Wii U game? :p

Hopefully Super Mario 3D World will have levels with this kind of creativity.

Ofcourse I don't mean copy-paste . I know Nintendo has it in them, and plus this time they have much better hardware, the possibilities are much better now.

I don't think this is going to be as good as Galaxy or Galaxy 2.  Then again, I don't think any game has been as good as Galaxy or Galaxy 2 in the history of gaming.  There is a big difference between not as good as Galaxy and not a good game or not a creative game.

I actually was pretty lukewarm on 3D World until I played it.  The game is really chaotic in a good way and is actually the complete opposite of barren.  There was something going on at pretty much every second of the game.  The multiplayer component works really well, and is actually a lot better than it was in NSMB.  It just works better in 3D where you're not always in people's direct path.  Levels were all unique and fun, and Cat Mario is freaking adorable.

It's not Mario Galaxy 3.  It's not the huge first player epic some people may have wanted, and it's not a revolutionary genre defining game.  It is however, really fun, and for anyone who has someone to play with, it's a unique Mario experience.

That was... beautiful.

I'm excited for this. I loved 3D Land on the 3DS and I'm sure this'll be a fun, adventurous, yet challenging game.

Very well said.

I have a question though, did you play it alone or with someone else? If alone was it still very fun? Because I most likely will be playing alone and would like to know if the single-player part is still very fun.

I got to try all of the levels, but it was all multiplayer.  I can't say how well it will hold up with single player.
