Forums - Nintendo - Is multiplayer crippling Mario 3D World's level design?

Im pretty sure Miyamoto said the 3D Land/World series is a completely new series, different from the NSMB and Galaxy series which will both continue as well. So now we have 2D, 3D and Galaxy series, nothing this game does will affect the "proper" 3D Mario games.

The only way that I think this would effect the "proper" 3D Mario games is that if this sells a lot more than them, that way we will see more releases of these types of Mario games.

The platforms and general level design looks a lot more... Spacious, even compared to 3D Land.

That's probably because of 4-player co-op.

I honestly dont think it will affect them. NSMB success didnt stop Galaxy from releasing and NSMBWii didnt affect Galaxy 2.

I think 2D Mario is going to take a bit of a break and 3D Land series will take its place for the next few years.

I didn't want another galaxy game, I wanted a new exciting 3D adventure. Instead I got a crappy looking multiplayer DLC pack for 3D Land that costs 60 dollars. Nintendo will not get my money for this.

This right here sums up how I feel very succinctly.

This is a clear case on confirmation bias. You wanted a Mario Galaxy game, you didn't get it, so now every aspect of the game is automatically horrible.

I actually would have preferred something new and exciting over another Galaxy game, or at least a bigger, more intriate Maro 64 styled design.

People repeatedly say they want something new from Nintendo, yet then they fiercely object to any change and trash any game that messes with the formula.  At any rate the levels are decidedly not generic or autogenerated in any way....... unless the auto generator Nintendo had magically made levels that perfectly accentuated World's features.  And again, raft levels.

I've been open to and happy with most of the changes Nintendo made to their games.

The levels didn't anywhere near perfectly accentuate the features; there were too many barren areas, basic enemy/obstacle placements, lack of or overly simple patterns, etc.

That's the best one shown so far, but it still doesn't have very elaborate patterns or puzzles.
