anime for sure....

the quality is of anime and story is far from american cartoons...

anime have continuous stories unlike the sitcom element on american cartoons....

sure i love family guy or sponge bob but do i think it is miles away from one piece or ROD or berserk?hell no!

pixar animation is great.... and i think the highest quality of animation... but japanese is in par without using any form of 3D.... cough Miyazaki cough

American cartoons don't take themselves seriously as Japanese anime do. America is focused if not obsessed about making you laugh whereas Japan manages to cover and discuss numerous aspects including comedy, love, drama, social issues, fantasy, etc.

Japan easily wins in diversity and depth.

No offense, but you must be watching the wrong American cartoons. Not all American cartoons are just for laughs. In fact, a great number of them are not. There have been, for many decades, generally two different types of cartoon series: comedy ones, whose point is to be silly and make you laugh, and then story-driven cartoons, whose point to tell a continuing, character and event focused plot. Ignoring all the American cartoons that provide everything you just mentioned (comedy, love, drama, issues, etc.), and just pointing out the silly ones and saying "ANIME WINS", is rather naive. Just saying.

True, America has produced shows like Samurai Jack, Young Justice, Gargoyles, Spectacular Spider-man, Symbionic Titan, and Avatar the Last Airbender, but I'd argue those shows have always kind of been few and far inbetween, and are becoming increasingly rare these days.

japanese animation brings out emotions, sword art online my god......

To be fair, how many of these anime shows are original? They just copy from a manga or novel mostly. That's how they have so many shows, there's no other way. And most of them are derivative. I love anime, I've seen a lot.

Also I thought this was specifically about animation, not the whole show lol woops

Has anyone here been to Japan?? They have whole cities dedicated to Anime!! And believe me when i say this, you will never truly know HOW MANY Animes are truly made that don't come to the states or Australia etc......I would also say shows like Dragon Ball Z, Pokemon, Neon Genesis and so on are probably better then American Anime, research Akhiabara in Japan to see some amazing pictures of how much they love and dedicate their lives to Anime.

Here is a question for everyone.'

Do Japanese watch Americanized Cartoons? Like on Adult Swim we get some Anime. Bleach and some other stuff. Is that the same way in Japan? Or is our stuff ignored besides Pixar and Disney.

Well, I know they do get a few of them at least. For example, I know they did get SpongeBob SquarePants, which was dubbed in Japanese:

And PowerPuff Girls: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTk9ouhxbl8

(which later got an anime adaptation, as Powerpuff Girls Z: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Powerpuff_girls_z )

And The Simpsons: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhr-f5LTJPM  (Movie trailer),  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OrZjOTSmClY (TV ad)

In addition, I know that Tom and Jerry was popular enough to get voted among the best 100 animated series of all time in 2005 (at number 58), although it was the only non-japanese animation there:

I believe they do get a good amount, just that they're generally not as popular as their own animation.
