Forums - Nintendo - Why We Wont Get Retro Tracks As Mario Kart 8 DLC. <(0_0<)

Will Mario Kart 8 even have DLC?

Man I sure hope so! 64 63.37%

Probably not unfortunately. 17 16.83%

Eh, I don't care either way. 20 19.80%

Total:101

Because future Mario Kart games! They'll want to have never before remade tracks in each new installment! Yeah, this all just dawned on me. :L
We could still get completely original tracks as DLC though. I'm personally hoping for inter-universal tracks that are based off Nintendo's other franchises, like Zelda or Kirby. Driving around Hyrule or Dreamland would be awesomes! ^_^

I asked Mr. Iwata if MK8 will have DLC in the form of track packs from each MK game. His reply was shocking to me. He was in a bit of a hurry, but he told me that the team are "hard at work using the 25GB of disc memory to their advantage. You'd be surprised how many courses and other content we could fit in a single retail disc". Does this mean we'll have every MK course in MK8? Is it possible if they used a 50GB disc? That would be epic. Wii U would destroy PS4 this coming Spring. Lol.

I doubt they'll throw every MK track in existence into this game even if they could, however I do see them increasing the cup count by 1 for both standard and retro, giving us 40 total tracks as opposed to the usual 32.

Joke thread, serious thread or dumb thread?

Heh, I ask similar questions whenever I read one of your post.

God, I WISH it's all new tracks and all new gameplay mechanics. Nintendo needs freshness and innovation more than ever this gen.

I hope there'll be a lot of characters (on disc, not DLC).

Can't it be all three?

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

I hope that Iwata meant that the disc will be packed with content at launch, not that there's room for more content as DLC.

This isn't an anti-DLC crusade; Mario Kart is perfect for DLC tracks. Rather, I remember reading that the team currently working on Mario Kart 8 would be interested in making a new F-Zero game once they're finished, and I'd like them to get right on that instead of messing around with Mario Kart DLC.

You know there will be! Already twelve confirmed, and imo that 12 is better than MK7's 16 lol.

I remember reading somewhere that Nintendo's policy is to finish making the game first before even thinking about DLC, which is good sauce if true!

And don't hate me but I'd prefer MK8 DLC rather than an F-Zero game. :L
Honestly they could easily do both as there should be plenty of time before they have to make another Mario Kart game.
